I found a patch of Craterellus cornucopioides. It's pretty uncommon around here, and I've very rarely seen any. Despite its fairly grim appearance, it's edible and delicious.
Every now and then after a big rain these crop up in my basement. No obvious cracks or anything where they pop out of the unfinished concrete floor. I try to dispose of them without too much opportunity to shake of spores, and then douse the floor with bleach, but I also admire their ability to grow with no apparent nutrients.
Not sure what they are but they looked very cool.

The gills color here really threw me for a loop, I didn't do a cross-section in the field so I didn't even consider the white-spored Lactarius until I got home and broke the cap. I did a nibble and spit test to confirm and the flavor wasn't so much "spicy" as it was like the sensation of licking a battery.
They were a bit hard to spot, barely peeking out from the sandy mud near a stream.
I thought it looked neat, left it in peace.
I should have looked closer at the gills. Found in NEOH
Probably chanterelles, but I am no expert.
