the problem with AI is not whether it works well, it's whether it's reliable. imagine this was your alarm clock to wake you up in the morning. 30 days in a row it works well, then suddenly it wakes you up at 4 am for no apparent reason. and some days it just doesn't wake you up at all.

yeah but they still don't typically take (permanent) harm when they fall. i.e. faster regeneration, lower body mass (therefore lower impact momentum) and better strength-to-mass ratio overall.

consider how insects can literally fall off the roof of a skyscraper without hurting themselves, because smaller organisms have better mechanical stats in relation to their body mass. something about laws of physics.

uhh i happen to know some things about electronics, and what you're doing seems rather dangerous. old batteries often have microscopic damages inside (basically crystals start growing on the inside of the battery, which pierce the membrane that separates the two chambers inside the battery). once that membrane is pierced, it can kinda short-circuit internally and that releases a lot of energy rather quickly, which makes the battery heat up and it can catch fire or violently explode. this is kinda dangerous. do not mess with old batteries!

(that stuff can literally burn down your house, and insurance won't cover it if the battery was not operated as intended, i.e. charged with a proper charging equipment. because what you're doing here is basically bypassing the charging equipment's internal instruction to not re-charge a fully depleted battery!)

if they have been dead for a while (0 V), do not try to charge them up again! that's a serious fire hazard. better to depose them safely (there's specialized garbage handlers who can take that kind of batteries). and buy a new one.

addendum: there's some types of batteries which can be safely discharged to 0 V and then started up again (china's new sodium ion batteries are a noteable example for this). but that is the exception, not the rule. especially, it's not possible for lithium-ion batteries, which you are using here.
