Ouf.. I do that sometimes when writing guides or argumentative articles/texts. As a "this is relevant now for for this, but I will explain further later" or "this is relevant now, and I must explain it now so everything makes sense". Especially if the subject does not require a section of its own, but its understanding is a prerequisite to understanding the wider point.

Free Software Foundation announces a Librephone initiative to develop a fully free and open source smartphone
The most important thing fo me is not to fix a new Linux phone or linux compatible phone. It is to pressure the banks and digital ID providers here in Sweden and EU to support Linux.
I wanted a Linux phone, I was open and prepared to have a worse camera, battery, stability, user experience. You name it. Just to break free from the duopoly. But then I wouldn't be able to use my bank, healthcare services, insurance, file my taxes, etc. Cause there is no support for Linux only Android and iOS, windows, Mac OS.
Services needed to exist in a modern society locked to platforms owned by private corporations. Even if ASOP gets a fork that continues without Google's version of ASOP for future version's, there is a good chance none of the bank apps would function without integration of google services.
I'm running /e/OS on a fairphone, that was the best option out there for my requirements. But with the latest developments around ASOP I'm not sure about how long this will be an option.

To quote Adam Savage; The one skill to focus on, is how easy you are to work with. People will always take the less skilled but easy to interact with person, before the "full of them self" savant.
I'm using the word quote here in the broadest of sense. Cause I know I'm butchering the quote. Only remember the gist of it.

Well depending on the size of the organisation and the nature of the work. You either hire a temp or balance the team/workload for the vacation time. As an example; in Sweden, it is mandated by law that workers have the right to take 4 consecutive weeks between June 1 and august 31. So as long as the team is no smaller than 3 you should only have to balance or extend time frames for work during this period. Even if the work is qualified.
There is something referred to as a industry vacation here as well. Its when a factory just shuts all production for 4 weeks and everybody goes on vacation at the same time.
Do note, that you don't have to take 4 of your 5-6 weeks of payed vacation during this time. But you have the right to.
Every year the employer has until first of April to schedule, plan and approve all vacation for the summer.
Hope that helps. If you have more questions I'll gladly answer them. I'm a union man and have negotiated quite a few vacation plans.

everyone hates AI
I have made the conscious decision to try and not refer to it as AI, but predictive LLM or generative mimic models, to better reflect what they are. If we all manage to change our vernacular, perhaps we can make them silgtly less attractive to use for everything. Some might even feel less inclined to brag about using them for all their work.
Other options might be unethical guessing machines, deceptive echo models, or the classic from Wh40k Abominable Intelligence.

I think Alk is referencing, the concept of perverse incentives. Without explicitly saying it. It's a concept, or a way of refering to an incentive structure that gives un-desirable results, in economics.
Example: When clicks give you ad revenue. And hurt kittens nurtured back to health gives the most clicks. People start hurting kittens, so they have more to nurture back to health for clicks.
Edit: my example is unfortunately a very real thing. Multiple channels on YT have been found to do it. Someone else will have to find the articles about it. I don't want to ruin my day reading about it again.

I've seen enough posts related to etymology or historical use of words where they, either misrepresent the facts to fit a narrative or just make shit up, that I try to look it up my self. I also find etymology fascinating so that helps.
In this case they are absolutely right.
Both Mr and. Mrs,ms are derived from master and mistress (teachers) and both of those words stem from the Latin word Magister.
Edit: fun fact the English verb stick is the same word as the noun stick and comes from the same origin the Germanic word stik which also meant a piece of wood and to pierce/adhere or sharp. But wait it's older than that the Latin word stigare also means pierce. And share the same ancestry, namely indo-european. Turns out we humans have been talking about sticks for a long time.

One for the night crew
Swede here dealing with the same realization. Although continental Scandinavian is a Germanic language and share the same ancestry as German, eg proto-Germanic, and thereby shares a lot of similarities, it’s not mutually intelligible. I can how ever often times pick out some words and with some bending and shuffling around get a gist of what’s going on. But only if it’s presented in a meme format.

Do you have any source for spare part no longer being produced for FP 4? I can't find any information about it and they are still available on their webpage to buy.
What was it that didn't work on arrival ? Didn't it power on? Are you within EU? If so, why didn't you contact your countrys consumer advocacy agency, instead of waiting 3 months. We have 2 years consumer law within all of EU they would have taken your claim to the company for you.
Was the problem eventually resolved?

To all European Union/Europe Open Source/Linux Enthusiasts
Well we can organise, set up a non profit (this also lets us bypass CC2 if its ever enacted). I've been thinking about this for a while and already have a framework for statues and a draft for a mission statement. If done correctly there are country and EU grants that can help (yes, I spent some time looking through grant processes). What I mean to say is; you have my axe

Ohh you.. That's very nice of you to say.
No I don't work with writing documentation, but I've found that often times the "how to's " miss the explanation part between steps, or don't show enough examples for novices. Understanding what you are doing is sort of the point, and not adding context will make it harder for the reader to navigate any roadblocks that they may encounter. A step by step instruction shouldn't leave you stuck on a step because the writer expects that you know how to navigate or find a specific menu. Unless it is explicitly stated of course. I don't expect expert level documentation to also go through all the basics.

You still haven't explained what the issue was, then you mention not having time, but you bought a ≈500 EUR device that acordingn to you didn't work, and the solution in your opinion is replacement or reimbursement. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say, you either did not have an issue that would warrant a replacement or hardware repair, or you are mad you weren't offered the solution you wanted and now spam the same message when ever Fairphone is mentioned. Cause your story doesn't add up. No time to raise a case with consumer advocacy agency, 500EURs worth of phone thrown in a drawer. New phone; suddenly time to invest. Avoided answered what the issue was. Copy pasted same comment at least 4 other times. Fairphones customer service might be the worst, I don't know. But I do question the validity of your claims.
