X deactivates European Commission’s ad account after the company was fined €120M
Too bad X didn't ban all European users so our rulers would be forced to choose a better communication platform!

Decentralized Social Media Is the Only Alternative to the Tech Oligarchy
Reply in thread
There's Peertube as an alternative. It lacks some content, but the platform is on par. It is developed by a French association called Framasoft. Thus said, you're right, Youtube is still okay, even thus there are some fake videos and scam, but they are easy to avoid.

Google will move Android AOSP development behind closed doors
Reply in thread
Yes, there will still be the aosp repository as open-source. It will have some lag, but still there. Thus said, Google has moved a lot of things into the Google Play services over the years (closed sources). So, who knows what's next! Let's praise that some companies inject money / devs into postmarketos!

EU far-right parties rally in Madrid behind slogan 'Make Europe Great Again'
Reply in thread
I don't know about other countries' far-rights, but the father of Marine Le Pen was openly racist and said that gaz chambers never existed (he lost a trial about hatred incitement for saying this). He was also proud to have killed algerians during the war. She's more sweet in front of cameras compared to him, but she's the same as he. This party was created by old SS, so I don't think there's something more to add. There's no before for them, it's pure fantasm. They just want control and order.

I'm not so sure. Facebook was a great tool to create local communities at first. Then it became greedy and changed the algorithm for ads and being attention driven. If you remove facebook (which I don't use since months), it's harder to find what's new around you, and get out to cool events. Especially on the countryside.

Looking for a markdown editor that shows either the markdown text, or the (configurable) rendered version.
Obsidian, it's not open-source, but it's not locking you down, and it's exceptionnally well written.

Trump vows to slap 25% tariffs on EU and claims bloc was ‘formed to screw US’
Reply in thread
It's not just a yes or no. Theorically, they have to do many things about corruption, economic stability. They are not supposed to be at war to apply and not to have unstable countries beside. Accepting Ukraine now, would be against all the neighbors countries that have been struggling to enter. EU have to help them getting out of this war (preferably by pushing Russia out entirely), then make peace, then help rebuilding so they are conform to enter. I really hope we manage to make them get there! But it's long for a reason: stability. The quickest part would be to accept them as candidate, but it needs peace first.

Have you checked the flags in wpa_supplicant? Some routers have non-default encryption schemes.
From my notes, use these USE flags as a test: net-wireless/wpa_supplicant wps wep ap fasteap eap-sim tkip uncommon-eap-types
I'm pretty sure this is your problem :)

As EU citizen, I don't think that's a good deal for us, as we are importing food that do not match our environmental criterias. It's anti-concurrential for inside food producers that have to conform these environmental laws. It would have been good if the deal was to import things that were produced respecting our laws (no offense).

Don't go onto specialized distro. Just use the main ones like Mint (which is based on Ubuntu, which is based on Debian). I would say that Debian is the best one, but it needs to read some docs if you have a Nvidia Graphic card (but if not, it should be easy and super stable). Bazzite, Nobara, etc, are based on distro that are quickly changing (Fedora or Arch), which are really nice in their own way, but as a beginner, you need stability first!
Try this : https://www.linuxmint.com/edition.php?id=325 It is Linux Mint, but directly based on Debian instead of Ubuntu!
