I'm moving here permanently and never looking back, but I'm leaving my posts because that's 11 years worth of comments that someone may find useful in the future. I hate the idea of losing all the good comments and discussions that have taken place over the years but I understand why people wish to delete their stuff regardless.

Why on earth would they be interested in federating with meta??

If you join lemmy.fmhy.ml they don't defederate from any porn servers. It's all over my "all" feed and I haven't decided if I like it or not yet lol.

Lol fair. For me, the melancholy and sadness is part of the appeal. I kinda enjoy those feelings of sad nostalgia. I also like to be able to appreciate these beautiful, massive buildings before they get torn down or replaced with something else.

Yes I think a lot of us are waiting for the sync app. Hope it's as good as the reddit one because that would really elevate my experience here

I sincerely hope it doesn't. If Lemmy reaches the same levels of toxicity as reddit then I will be moving to a new platform with less people and hopefully less toxicity. Lemmy has opened my eyes to the fact that I don't have to constantly deal with assholes in order to engage with people online. There are tons of good quality, friendly communities online, you just have to find them.

Yes I just see it as a necessary evil. It's also nice to know if corporations ever decide to wipe all their content off the Internet or something I always have my trusty hard drives packed with all my favorite media.
