Steam Frame: The Ars Technica review

Its absolutely nuts if they launch this without the ability to stream from their own, Linux-based, hardware.

The article doesnt explicity state that foveated streaming is nor supported on Linux, but it does go.our of it's way to mention Windows in every instance it mentions streaming.

Collabora and Valve have built and released a preview aarch64 port of Arch Linux (Holo Core) for the Steam Frame

This is great stuff and, though I've not much insight into Arch, I think a big contriubuiton back for the project/community.

That said, the Frame is the first electronics project in the last... 10 years? that I've been anticipating the release of, while theres lots of signs of life (more games Verified for Frame, more shipments) some of the news makes the realise itself feel very far away.

I'm well aware I've invested way too much, personally, in a product launch, but there's no unwinding it now.

PdfDing v.1.5.0 - workspaces + collections, 1500+ Stars and almost 200k image pulls

Reply in thread

I have lots (100s?) of pdfs for ttrpg rules collected over years - storing in folders is enough to separate by game, but fails when a single book is a mix of content - does it go in the adventure, character options or DM folder?

Having a nice UI with tags and searching would help to organise the collection a lot better.

Accessing all of that across any of my devices while the files actually live on my NAS would a be a big improvement - its easy for my laptop & tablet to get out of sync etc

Can there be privacy with Google Play Services?

Signal is my only instant messenger and I can happily report no issues these days with notifications, that said, I never really noticed them previously and have been using for >3 years.

Occasionally we'll use Signal whilst on a live call, someone will tell us they messaged on Signal and I'll get the notification immediately - i.e. I knew when it was sent and received.

This is working smoothly on my grapheneos phone and the desktop client across Linux and Windows.

LIDL are owned by a huge German wholesaler who are already dealing in large quantities, their middle aisle products are bought in huge volumes because they have such a laegr foot print of stores, unlike your average hardware shops where you'd otherwise be buying your drill, hedgehog hotel and speciality Greek produce.

ooh, this is great, lets hope there's some adoption.

Im quite happy with just a few additions to basic markdown, however I've been holding off using canvases much because they're not portable, should Obsidian turn to the dark side so perhaps im missing out.

Any recommended usecases for canvases over notes?

cpx Introduced as a Faster, Modern Replacement for Linux cp

The trailing slash is just following cp's own special treatment

# before
dir/
    file1
target/
    orig.txt

# no trailing slash - copy *dir* to target
cp -r /path/to/some/dir /my/target

# after
target/
    orig.txt
dir/ # dir copied to target
        file1

# with trailing slash - copy *contents* of dir to target
cp -r /path/to/some/dir/ /my/target

# after
target/
    orig.txt
    file1 # contents of dir

F-Droid 2.0: A New Chapter for Android Freedom

Reply in thread

I swapped to Fdroid Basic where they've been trialling many of the UI changes, today I reinstalled the main fdroid app and 2.0 was the default option, so no I don't believe theres any phased rollout.

If you're currently using a pre-2.0 version, you'll have to manually update the app, same as ever. From 2.0+ they default to auto-updating in the background.

I'm pretty pleased with the changes, especially search covering description etc and no longer just app names!
