Tips to vet whether a person you are dating or know might be working for ICE?
I think just getting to know someone and judging them based on who they are is a lot more important. Rather than trying to suss out someone's group affiliations (like if they are part of ICE), why not simply pay attention to how they treat others and the kind of actions they take when faced with challenges? They will naturally show their embodied values and beliefs, and you can then make an informed decision on whether you want to associate with that person or not.
Essentially I think we should be judging people individually. Rather than trying to figure out what kind of person someone is based on their aesthetic choices like stickers or tattoos, see if they treat others with compassion. Everyone makes mistakes and does bad things sometimes, but the people worth sticking around usually recognize when they do, feel remorse, and work on it.

"There was no indication the Patriot Games would pit competitors against each other in a fight to the death, as of this writing." Lmaoo
Funny thing is, if they decided policy this way I'd guess it'd be more representative than the House of Representatives for California.

$20k/yr where? In the U.S. that would be very tight, so the math might change a bit based on local cost of living.

Yes, exactly. Its killing problem solving ability and learning. Taking the extra time to search around and figure things out helps you learn. Not to mention its poisoning its own well, making legitimate answers harder and harder to find on the web.

How do vaccines cause autism?
The whole idea that autism = bad isn't necessarily right or that simple anyways. I find that being on the spectrum is honestly an advantage for the type of work I do.

I don't think its a matter of stowing empathy as much as it is redirecting your energy. I still empathize with those people, but I try to focus energy on my immediate life and the people around me, and thinking about how I can help and improve their lives, support them best, etc. rather than doom scrolling and despairing. Because with the people directly around me I can have a much more tangible impact. I'd like to work up to having a more systemic impact too, but I'm still figuring out that part. But I think its helpful to have a solid base to work from first, you know?
