I'm new so this may not be completely accurate but my understanding is that individual users can't block other instances entirely, that can only be done at the instance level by the instance admins. Individual users can only block other individual users or communities.

He does seem very defensive, and aggressive. MSG isn't "bad" at all, it's just another ingredient really. The campaign against it was entirely bullshit that was driven by racism against Asian people because it's a common ingredient in Chinese food.

Until recently I think lemmygrad was the most active instance and it's full of communists, including obnoxious tankies who scared off new users and contributed the reputation.

That's about where I am. Spez making up a blackmail/extortion accusation against the Apollo dev is just so completely damning. I have no faith left in anything the Reddit admins say at this point, and it's hard to imagine what they can do to change that.

It's definitely up there as one of the absolute worst AMAs of all time.

All of the most popular lemmy instances have been having issues while they deal with the massive user growth. I expect it will get better over time as things get figured out and lemmy devs make improvements. I don't know what's wrong with lemmy.ml specifically but it will probably be back online soon, I think one of the main lemmy devs runs it so it's not like they are going to abandon it now that lemmy is taking off.

I run PopOS on my laptop. It's been really solid, except Linux doesn't support the speaker amp so I can only get sound out via the headphone jack or bluetooth.

My understanding is that Lemmy accounts are currently locked to the Lemmy instance you created it on, if the instance goes away you lose your account too.

From what I've heard, there's thousands of applications they are working through so it may take a bit to get caught up.

That may be a feature eventually, I think Lemmy development isn't very far along yet and the devs weren't really expecting a flood of people to suddenly show up from Reddit. I'd expect it will get a lot more polished, and additional features, now that so many people are using it and more devs are contributing to the project now.

It is very odd behavior, I wouldn't be surprised if he steps down and goes to rehab or something. The way he has been acting, it really seems like something more is going on with him.

I think that's inflation cut in half from last year's peak now, so we're definitely getting there. It really does seem like the soft landing is a likely outcome at this point, we mostly keep getting closer to it.

Coincidentally, profit margins in certain industries have significantly expanded during this same period. It really does look like a lot of "inflation" was more like profiteering, many companies used the panic about inflation to push prices up regardless of actual costs.
