Not trying to be rude here, but it does say "by EFF technologists" when installing the extension. Also their welcome page for the extension after installing it, states "" A project of the EFF".

I hope these things are read beforehand and just not skipped, ignored or just installed quickly before taking some time to look around / researched.

Man, i really want to like Murena as I have been using e/os for about 3 years now. Even signed up and pay a yearly subsriction for their online ecosystem, albeit its more expensive, but i wanted to give my money to the underdog in this instance.

Going have to read more into this since last years failure doesnt help their image

One reason I shop at Aldi's. Their cashiers sat down. I respect that. I shop there.

Not a true alternative, but I love Freetube. Just for the fact that I don't have to have an account tied to it with no ads and sponsor ads is nice.

Lately there's been connection issues but usually gets resolved with 2-3 days.

Even works on my raspberry pi.

Top two for me are Freetube and KDE Connect.

Sharing files (and all the other features) with KDE Connect across 2 devices on same network has never been so easier.

Theres two -

"Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened" - Dr. Seuss

And a recent one - "Your life starts where your comfort zone ends"

Recently switched over to mull browser. Fork of the Firefox browser, works great so far. Also if you are unsure of the security of your browser, could use the website, browseraudit.com, that rates your current browsers. Runs 100+ against several tests and reports back.

Check out Mull browser. There's mobile version as well for desktops. Its lightweight Firefox without any of the telemetry.

Yup!

I have switched from Google Maps to Here we go for years now and been loving it

Could look into Oni - One of Bungie's first game

Number 1 rule is to try it out on a second phone. Do not try with your current phone. Just don't.

Second rule : read the first rule again.

In all seriousness, I have had so much fun with mobile Linux OS's, trying out different phones and OS's but there's a deep learning curve and at the end of the day, there is not one that is completely ready to be use as a daily driver or have all the apps that I need - looking at you DUO Mobile (2fa).

However there is /e/OS, where is degoogled, has a built in tracker blocker and uses microG. Use it as a daily driver on my One plus 6t but its technically still Android. Someone did mentioned Murena, same OS.

Buy a cheap supported phone off of EBay and have a go. If you have any questions, let me know.

been plug and play for me using Nvidia + Linux for years now. Just upgraded to a 5070ti, literally was take out old, put in the new.

Or just buy a cheap 3rd party off brand universal remote. Dont have to use the one that comes with the TV

back when i started with Linux, i would distro hop in the beginning since i was trying out different ones, making mistakes, but taking that knowledge with me onto the next one. Then i discovered Manjaro, then EndeavourOS and have been on it for years now

Have thought about reinstalling EOS once i rebuild my computer, but see how that goes -

Always like to test out default installed browsers against browseraudit.com.

Not too shabby

Becoming my favorite lemmy app! Thank You

Next to KDEconnect, I freaking love Freetube. Just a nice application

Been rocking an One plus 6T with /e/OS (love their built in tracker blocker) for 3 years now. Bought it second hand for $75. Can't beat it. Probably my favorite phone for Android Roms
