Is psychedelic therapy anti-revolutionary?

I think its no different from any other medicine. Overwhelmingly, the burden of disease in modern society is attributable to social determinants of health which all stem from societal inequality and exploitation under capitalism. Type 2 diabetes is also a disease of capitalist overproduction of calorie dense foods at the expense of healthier complex carbohydrates. Is it anti-revolutionary for someone to take metformin to treat their diabetes?

On mental health specifically, of course social and societal factors under capitalism are significant preconditions for people developing mental health disorders - however they are not the only factor. I think its a mischaracterisation to say these treatments are aimed at "pacifying" the population. They are aimed primarily at alleviating suffering, otherwise people wouldn't take them. People don't want to be pacified, they just want to feel better. As an aside I can tell you no depressed person is going to be doing much revolutionary organising. On the contrary someone with their depression treated is much more likely to be getting revolutionary shit done. There's no grand conspiracy to keep the populace medicated and in line, its just the grand conspiracy to profit off a medicine that people want to buy because it soothes their psychic angst.

Also the constant dedication to downvoting seems like the behaviour of someone who is paid to do it. Otherwise why would you do that, normal people would get bored right? I don't go and actively seek out online communities I disagree with to downvote their posts. That would be such a pathetic way to spend my time

Title of the sub ambiguous

It's not ambiguous for anyone familiar with the topic. Chinese withoutany further clarification means Mandarin, putonghua, "common language". That being said any discussion of other Chinese languages or dialects I'm sure would be welcome in this community.

addit: I don't think anyone would feign confusion about whether a community for learning Italian was referring to the Italian national language or Sicilian or Naples dialect.

Also escalating to war over Taiwan? Redeployment of troops in Philippines, making new nuclear alliances (AUKUS, attempts to expand NATO to East Asia.) So yes, a lot of counts of bloodthirsty warmongering. Regardless of your politics, these actions are undeniably escalator. Just saw your username. Unsurprising.

"The question always comes down to how do we stop people from being bad." This is the problem with not having a materialist analysis of the world, its not about being bad or being good or morality at all. At large people are motivated by self interest, perpetuating and sustaining their material conditions. Its only through struggle of the oppressed against those in power that change can come about.

The Story of Bill

Geez it's not like he's a fascist or something. A lot of people have to reckon with friends becoming fascists. If you don't see eye to eye that's another thing and maybe just let yourself fall out, you clearly have different upbringings and maybe this is part of why you're not on the same page. Otherwise personally I can't really see why a friendship should fall out over a different brand of leftism. From the way you write I'm guessing you're in a Western country which means it's purely a theoretical disagreement. It's not like there's an active revolution underway.

[Final Update] My insurance won't cover UTIs for males. Yes, I'm in the US.

do get it treated OP, however one does that in that joke of a country you're unfortunate enough to live in. Do know that unlike female UTIs which are relatively common and often uncomplicated if treated, male UTIs are not common and CAN herald some other underlying pathologies (such as urinary stones, blockages, anatomical problems etc) which should be properly investigated. So do go see a doctor if you're able to.
