Same. I can watch others play them (and I love to) but being the one playing, I‘m basically in perma „I‘m about to get jumpscared“ ultra tense mode and don‘t enjoy it at all

PEGI gives Balatro an 18+ rating for gambling imagery
They haven’t understood the game at all, I wonder if they even looked at it for more than two minutes
Run game > see playing cards and poker chips > close > PEGI 18

Valve Acknowledges Steam Deck Shortages Due To Global Memory and Storage Issues
I‘m pretty worried about my devices, ngl. I never really had a problem with PC components or consoles breaking, I‘m very careful with my stuff, but Murphy‘s law… Something will probably break just outta warranty and when a stick of ram gets me a car

I think you‘re onto something. I read a lot of comments of people thinking the fediverse is too complicated to deal with and while I disagree - but also think it has issues - there does seem to be a barrier of entry for a good portion of people in the form of „inconvenience.“ So whoever is here really wants to be here and not just be an anonymous arse. I don‘t think you gotta be particularly smart, you gotta step out of your comfort zone.

My pipe dream is a bunch of new indie studios forming out of all these layoffs and kicking publisher‘s asses on sales with new competent and passionate games.
…But I guess they‘d then probably sell to those publishers again and repeat…

They wanna make it very clear that this is their best-selling console ever but better, I would‘ve been surprised if they didn‘t just slap a 2 on it. There‘s so much riding on this for them.

DOOM: The Dark Ages Has Reportedly Sold Less Than 1 Million Copies
I don‘t buy any digital copy of a game for over 45 bucks, doesn‘t matter what it is… I also haven‘t finished DOOM 2016 yet and haven‘t even started Eternal. Not because they‘re bad games or because I don‘t like FPSs, but because I have so much shit to play and so little time.
Competition is fierce and asking 80 bucks when I got the predecessors for less than 5 each is just not happening. Just because games cost more to produce doesn‘t magically make customers have more money and time. It‘ll make release weeks stinkers outside of your GOTYs and makes more people wait or go back to 20+ years worth of other games that aren‘t 80 bucks.

60 Percent Of Playtime In 2023 Went To 6-Year-Old Or Older Games, New Data Shows
Videogame prices combined with hardware prices combined with the terrible state of games at launch makes playing older, actually finished games the better choice. It‘s not like Fallen Order‘s a bad game now, but I can play it at 4k handily without selling a kidney nowadays.
…I wish people realizing this was the reason for the numbers but it‘s mainly big, old live service games lol

Fans Left Speechless as Capcom Locks Street Fighter 6 Finals Behind Paywall
I cannot fathom how this move is better for them than a larger audience with baked-in ads. This isn‘t some huge event with mainstream appeal. I‘d hope they ran the numbers, but nowadays I‘m not so sure.
