He looks pretty capable just going by these pics. Why spend money putting him in a home? Throwing money away. Fuck his kids, I guess.

This boarding pass came out of the machine blank.
Also mildly infuriating. Self serve works great until it doesn't.

I don't have thoughts one way or the other. It's an interesting post, there's a good chance it's fake. I can't say I care all that much. There are certainly people with kids who would move their parent into a home and take control of the money from selling their house, so it's not completely out of the realm of possibility.

Ubisoft reportedly deleting customer accounts with purchased games if they have been inactive for too long
Reply in thread
Ubisoft might tell you that the game is already registered and won't let you register it again, even with a new Ubi account. I would assume the scenario where the customer gets screwed is the default.

Help me like desktop linux
I think that this is just the reality. Linux is not Windows, and each has their issues. I run an Arch based distro so that I can get new changes as soon as is reasonable without needing to go to user repositories, but some things still lag behind Windows because there is no corporate motivation ($) to build those features for Linux.
I've changed my workflow and mindset about what I need to do and how to get there in Linux. This involves making tradeoffs when Linux can't do things the same way, or at all. I think this is a common experience.
My earbuds' firmware can only be updated with a Windows app. My tax software only works in Windows. I have to use a Windows VM for those.
There are online games I can't play with friends. I use FreeCAD instead of Autodesk stuff, I made sure that I can use the slicer for my 3D printer in Linux before buying it, and so on.
Realistically, I can't be the change that I want to see, so I live with it. For me, it's still worth it.

Make sure not to underestimate the brilliance of 'Everything Everywhere All at Once' as it proves to be an exceptional movie!
I felt the same way, that this was another overhyped Hollywood circle jerk, but it was pretty good. At a surface level the story isn't anything amazing. The action sequences were good but nothing revolutionary. For me it was the acting and the core of the story, which to me was about relationships, making the best of your choices, and kindness to others and yourself. For some reason the kindness part really hit me. How they represented it was cheesy as hell, but that didn't stop me from taking that to heart.

Split voting and spoiler candidates in Ontario 2025
It's a shit situation either way. I want to vote for someone who best represents me, but that leaves the possibility for the party that I don't agree with to win. I could vote strategically to keep them out, but the opposing party has no desire to change the system, so I'm kicking the can and furthering a two party system. It's almost always going to be a back and forth between the two main players, neither of whom wants change.
Are we going to ask candidates to step down in every election?

Samsung screen mirroring finally supports casting to a Chromecast
So Pixel phones don't support DP alt mode via USB-C, and Samsung phones don't support Chromecast. Are they holding back these features for when they run out of ideas to sell new phones? I can't think of any technical reason why we can't have both.

As usual, the fines are not anywhere near proportional to the value received. As long as you have money you can do whatever the fuck you want.

Cool YouTube cooking channels?
I learned a lot from watching the original Japanese Iron Chef. You're not learning recipes of any sort. What I learned were techniques and that it's okay to experiment and be creative in the kitchen. For day to day meals, it works pretty well when trying to come up with meal ideas based on what's on sale at the grocery store. If I want to try making something specific, that's when I search for recipes.

HR people and hiring managers, what do you reeeeally mean by "team player"
Pretty much. Similarly, "passion" can be translated to "willing to work unpaid hours and/or low wages". As if the main reason I work isn't for the paycheque.

Still not used to splits after a year…how do you type one-handed?
I've been using a Corne for over a year. The halves are close enough that I can move my non-mousing hand to the other half. I like the split primarily for a more comfortable typing angle rather than a wider stance.
