I want to try giving more background context, and to replay through the creation process with this.

Part of the fun of abstract art is developing motifs of form. I've been settling on the line segments, circles, & points as basic elements. More fundamentally, I view these all as 'nodes' or 'strands' - a strand can be coiled into a point or connected to itself in a circle. Then, elements can be combined into 'molecules' or 'components' - like concentric circles or line-segment stacks, or like, three line segments into a triangle or four into a square. One of my go-to motifs is a circle with a line shooting out at a right angle around one of the cardinal directions. This is where I began with this drawing, with the pacific blue (outer ring) & cadet blue (line that goes from the top off to the right). Then, I made the ring concentric, with the forest green, carnation pink, & scarlet center, then finally the grey to bridge the pink/scarlet.

I've been often using a constraint of making every stroke a unique color - it seems both artistically challenging and enables aesthetic rainbow-y results.

I then made the color stack to balance on the cadet blue, from the bottom to top. Drawing line segments is less stressful & easier for me than other motifs like the curvilinears, though one common issue is the crayon tip 'exploding' at the beginning or middle of the line, that can create artifacts that at best can be worked with like knots in trees.

I made the yellow-orange perimiter stroke next, then thought it went too far to the right so made the color stack below to (chromatically) balance it out. Then, a looser corresponding green stroke seemed natural to fill the space there.

I like making an ice-like color by layering white + cerulean + white, and did this below the concentric circle. This sort of pushes the unique color per stroke constraint into a 'unique color per component', viewing these ice-drips as one - the goal isn't necessarily to fulfill the original constraint, though to make the best art.

I then wanted to make a 'muddy' color-stack below, beginning with the chestnut & brown; the orange seemed a natural 'ornament' & counter to the upper-left yellow-orange; olive + indigo to complete the 'terrain'. Then, I made the secondary, more vibrant 'terrain' below.

The empty space remaining in the middle-right seemed to call for color pencil curvilinear circuits. The light blue toward the bottom of this is faint in the scan. I'm inspired by local Hohokam petroglyphs, by the way, which scatter motifs like dot / circle / concentric cicles / curvilinears across the rock surface. Then, I added the red and some crayon strokes above, which blend the curvilinear section & the color stack above. I decided it was ok to add apricot twice qua unique-color exception; when viewing afterward, I noticed it created a color-correspondence between the bottom color-stack which are juxtaposed within the colors from the apricot to the green meander below.

That's the creation-process recap. I'm also re-establishing a set of kriya yoga programs (from the book A Systematic Course in the Ancient Tantric Techniques of Yoga and Kriya) that I've been struggling to progress through the past few years due to a myofascial (muscles + tendons) injury; am about two weeks restarting the first chapter's program. E.g. as a programmer, I've spent a lot of time constrained within a computer chair + typing position throughout my life. Recently, I've formed the goal of switching to using a floor-desk setup, now that I'm able to sit in Vajrasana pose and am getting closer to being able to sit in full-lotus long-term. For using the computer, I currently have a floor desk (plus this floor chair, which doubles qua ground padding). I like to draw outside, and currently have a desk & chair that feels ergonomically terrible/painful for my knees; a future goal is to get another floor desk & cushion for outside to replace the table. The floor table would also be more ethically eco-friendly to take a lower seat given that the small apartment backyard space is functioning qua micro–wildlife refuge.

Anyway, so I want to limit to maybe a drawing once a day or in a while for now, for the sake of healing the myofascial injury.

Thanks for reading/viewing,
May all beings be swiftly liberated from suffering.

I was medically detained again, for a week, under equanimous & non-emergency circumstances : (; we had access to a sizeable batch of Crayola crayons & periodically markers. Here's one drawing. I'll share more in this post or others, pending audience receptivity. I gave ~60 drawings away to another patient who said the colors relaxed him some, and he needed relaxation a lot.

I'm having difficulty finding permission to sleep and a consensual way to gain access to requisites like food & clothes. I'm used to things like violence & gaslighting, and think it's generally risky for me to be around other people, or for people to speak to me. I'm unable to find a way to spend time that's tolerated/allowed and am sorry for bothering others.

I have difficulty with access & ethics surrounding requisites like nutriment & clothes. I'm also having difficulty with overwhelming pain and people being angry=violent toward me. I miss having access to solitude. Sorry for bothering others.

I'm approaching overwhelming pain again and am concerned people will become enraged at me. I don't know how to get permission to rest. I've spending hours resting in the shower from myofascial tension and am chanting oṃ maṇi padme hūm.

Untitled.

It's normal for people to be violent toward me, and obtaining requisites to sustain being consistently causes people anger. People often don't tolerate me complaining, even to ask for help when in overwhelming pain. Sleeping hasn't been allowed in years. I feel sad. I'm worried I'll lose ability to speak by complaining.

Two drawings from today.

These both have the property of every mark being a unique hue - some shades are similar especially in the scanner - though I didn't use all the colors this time.

I felt hesitant about following my intuition regarding this composition. It's been a rough past twenty‐four hours again, though things got calmer and I'm happy to have a chance to draw.

Requesting permission to try migrating.

I'm unable to find an unforced way to obtain access to requisites to sustain being where I live, or to sleep. Trying to migrate hasn't been tolerated either, and I worry I'll be detained if I try. It's normal for people to be violent toward me, and people generally don't tolerate me requesting for it to stop. I'm looking for permission to attempt to migrate to somewhere else.

A load of more drawings from the past few months.

I began a Crayola crayon practice recently. Occasionally I use some colored pencils also. Here's drawings from the previous few months. I didn't purchase the color calibration sheet for the scanner yet; didn't want to wait for it.

I'm influenced by the concision of abstract art, like Piet Mondrian's neo-plasticism, though also love the lush, organic fields of color like in Impressionism.

I was using Crayola's 24 box previously.

I had a more lyrical style before settling on predominantly more simple geometries.

This one's titled Māra. Māra is typically framed like the main antagonist in Buddhism; is a personification of the world and its endless rounds of rebirths that is called saṃsāra. According to the Vimalakīrti Sūtra though, he is actually a bodhisattva rescuing beings from suffering; I take refuge in Māra. Drawing for me functions as a syncretic religious practice. In my nonstandard personal view, the Mesoamerican deity Huēhuecoyōtl is a form of Māra; Huēhuecoyōtl is a deity of the arts, amongst many other things. I didn't consider this composition as supporting a Māra reference until well after finishing though.

Sometimes more neo-expressionist figures emerge from the drawings, perhaps unaware to me until after finishing it.

This one's titled Bird over Fence. I draw in my backyard and get to see several kinds of birds visit. A hummingbird is one of my biggest supporters, who cheers me on from a nearby tree as I draw, unless I'm misinterpreting : ).

This one is titled 0¢, in reference to Jean-Michel Basquiat's Everybody's 2 Cents. It's also a celebration of the Crayola crayon. I'm heavily influenced by Basquiat, including his visual dominance hierarchies, color schemes, & motifs.

Some drawings turn out resembling faces or heads.

This one's titled God knows your suffering too.

This one's titled Musulundha, who is the ruling god of the Heaven Free from Strife per the Saddharmasmṛtyupasthāna. I don't see depictions of Musulundha anywhere, though it loosely reminded me of him, so this is a retrofit artistic rendition (as is the previous drawing).

This one's titled Auspicious Time & Resplendent, who are a bodhisattva swan & peacock, respectively, residing within the Heaven Free from Strife.

That's an overview some of the kinds of drawings. I'll start using a more sporadic order.

This one's titled Mm.

This one's titled Cross in Alcove

Canyon Rivers

The image upload button stopped working for some reason. Idk if there's a max image amount per post. Maybe I'll share some remaining previous drawings along with newer ones in future posts. Thanks for viewing.

Requesting permission to continue sharing art.

I'm hesitant about continuing to share art; am unsure if people are becoming intolerant of me to where I can't share anymore. People also have disliked me asking for permission for things like this, so I also shared this drawing anyway too. With permission, I want to add other drawings from the past few days in the comments.

ChatGPT introduced Sonia Delaunay & the Orphism movement as precedent. (I think people are too mean toward ChatGPT.)

Permission requests : (.

Requesting general social boundary of non-violence. Requesting permission to study & practice Buddhism. Requesting ability to ask for help when in overwhelming pain. Requesting permission to ask for food or to forage from garbages for food. Requesting tolerance in asking for these permissions.

I'm trying to migrate to a different realm.

I have an intention to try to migrate to a different realm in the Buddhist cosmology to find a space that's more consensual to be in. It's liberating having these potential options of travel/abode : ). I'm happy taking refuge in the Triple Gem. I'm requesting tolerance toward this declared intention and choice of refuge. Wishing all beings limitless cessation of suffering/pain/dissatisfaction.
