Before modern-day authoritarian regimes, did people living under abosolute monarchies criticize the monarchs? Or did they just stay silent in fear of persecution?

I grew up in a rough communist regime. I was really young when I overheard my parents talking about how the "supreme leader" was bad and things were starting to boil the next town over. There was nothing on TV or radio. Innocent me just asked my dad like, if he's that bad, why don't they just arrest the guy? They didn't realize I actually understood what they were talking about. I can still remember, to this day, 36 years later, how the soul left my parents' body in an instant, and we had a looong conversation about how I should never say anything like that ever again. People disappear when they talked like that, and "you don't want your mum and dad to go away, do you"?

A few months later there was a nation wide uprising, people died, the regime fell, and they actually arrested the guy.

I work for a company that builds an app /sdk that handles credit cards / payments. It's one of the (many) requirements for getting an industry standard certification (like PCIDSS / MPOC). The app Must block screenshots, and Must disable the camera while using it...

It seems like all packaged foods do this now

It's a 2% difference. The cutting and packaging is done (most probably) by machines. I have clinically diagnosed OCD, and I wouldn't care about 8g of missing pasta... How much do you leave on the plate/in the pot/throw away? :)

Otoh, hitting exactly 410g (assuming the scale is calibrated, and you have the same temperature, air moisture and altitude as the factory), is very difficult. They could adjust their machines so the variation hangs a bit more towards the customer, but for them, 2% x millions of boxes = profit.

In the EU it's usually like that. 3 years for a bachelor's, 2 years for a master's, only then you can start pursuing a phd.

I graduated in 2005, and back then we had a different system, where I did a single 5 year program for a computer science degree (engineering), that today is the equivalent of a master's (diplom engineer). I could have continued to go for a dedicated master's, another 2 years, but I got lazy.

I'm losing my fucking mind.

Some more info, like some error messages or logs would help people help you.

Also, stick with one distro while troubleshooting, and start by giving us the distro used, kernel, nvidia drivers, steam, wine and proton versions / variants, other packages used...

When you switched distro, did you do a full clean install for everything, including steam?
