Anon has a back injury

Classmate in 7th grade while warming up for gym class stretched easily that way. One kid made the offhand comment "Hey, you can suck your own dick!" and flexible kid immediately yelled "SHUT UP!". Which told us all he'd done it.

French libs right now

This is 100% how the Nazis got into power too. Hitler made all kinds of deals with the center-right, military, conservatives, and Hindenburg himself, by promising to be a bulwark against communism, unions, and the left in general. We all know how that movie ended.

Baidu CEO warns AI is just an inevitable bubble — 99% of AI companies are at risk of failing when the bubble bursts

I am old enough to remember when the CEO of Nortel Networks got crucified by Wall Street for saying in a press conference that the telecom/internet/carrier boom was a bubble, and the fundamentals weren't there (who is going to pay for long distance anymore when calls are free over the internet? where are the carriers-- Nortel's customers-- going to get their income from?). And 4 years later Nortel ceased to exist. Cisco crashed too, though had enough TCP/IP router biz and enterprise sales to keep them alive even until today.

This all reminds me of the late 1990s internet bubble rather than the more recent crypto bubble. We'll all still be using ML models for all kinds of things more or less forever from now on, but it won't be this idiotic hype cycle and overvaluation anymore after the crash.

Shit, crypto isn't going anywhere either, it's a permanent fixture now, Wall Street bought into it and you can buy crypto ETFs from your stockbroker. We just don't have to listen to hype about it anymore.

What did you do with the porn collection you found when cleaning out your dead parent's home?

My uncle, I'm convinced, must have had an epic porn collection, because he was a creepy sex-obsessed motherfucker. He was also something of a hoarder. When he was diagnosed with cancer he cleaned out his entire apartment, including the garage unit that had been packed to where you couldn't even walk into it, and many hard drives in his computer room, all gone. Never got to see any of it but never cared to either. My mother for sure didn't want to see it, and I think he was well aware of that, hence the massive cleaning spree.

Why were so many people believers in the conspiracy that 9/11 was an inside job

Because there was some legit sketchy shit:

  1. Bush was warned at least a month in advance that an attack was coming. He deliberately did nothing. This was documented publicly in a Senate hearing afterwards. We don't know whether he did nothing because of incompetence or malice, and we don't know who else knew in advance as well, but either way, at least he and the people who briefed him knew.

  2. The dirty secret of skyscrapers is that they're mostly made of nothing. They're almost entirely air. It takes precious little to weaken them and bring them down. The Bin Laden family was in the construction business and they knew this fact very well.

  3. As others have noted in the thread, Bin Laden and the Muhjadeen had been funded, trained, and armed by the USA. They were our creation.

Usually when people are suspicious, they're right to be suspicious. They're not always right about what to be suspicious about.

History of Australia

I do not understand the need to whitewash (hah!) indigenous history to erase wars and conflict. Humans fight each other, and indigenous humans are human just like white humans.

What they didn't do is war at the scale that white people have done. That's the innovation.

"Necessary"

There is no middle class. There are workers and owners. If you own real estate and stonks you are still a worker unless you can live off of just investments. This is designed to corrupt and neuter you. You have enough skin in the game of the owners to not want to oppose them, but not enough to actually be them. Unless you hope to retire, at which point you make the transition from working class to owning class, but only at the end of your life, if you even make it that far, and often owning very little.
