Since account creation does not happen in the app, but requires visiting the instance's home page, where registration requirements, federation status and other peculiarities are plainly visible, I don't think this belongs in the app.

Cross-post using Jerboa

I believe any two posts linking to the same URL are treated as a cross-post, and that is discovered at instance-level. There's nothing more to it than creating two posts in different communities with the same link.

ETA: But to answer your question directly, there's no support for doing that as a single action with Jerboa yet.

Skip to Loafer - Skip and Loafer Episode 11 Discussion

Man, the friendship between Yuzuki and Makoto is just the most heartwarming shit! The whole girl squad was really wholesome this week actually, with Mika now firmly part of it. And we even seem to have Shima take his first steps to reconnect with his familiy.

But of course Ririka has to show up to stir some shit. That glance between her and Shima's mother at the end does not bode well. They obviously recognized each other and were both pretty shocked. It'll be very interesting how this plays out next week, with Shima possibly between the front lines.

Edit: I just saw on MAL that Ririka is voiced by Minako Kotobuki (Mugi in K-On). With Aki Toyosaki (Yui) voicing the teacher, that's two of the K-On girls' VAs reunited in this show. Not really relevant, but I like spotting connections like that. Well, they are both really talented and versatile VAs, so it's not that surprising that they'd get a large number of roles.

Anybody else think it’s kind of a self-dig that we’re referred to as lemmings?

I think it's funny. Also, while just researching to debunk the common "Lemmings committin mass suicide misconception", I came across these additional gems:

In 1532, the geographer Jacob Ziegler of Bavaria proposed the theory that the creatures fell out of the sky during stormy weather and then died suddenly when the grass grew in spring. This description was contradicted by natural historian Ole Worm, who accepted that lemmings could fall out of the sky, but claimed that they had been brought over by the wind rather than created by spontaneous generation.
[...]
Another myth may have roots in the fiercely aggressive nature of lemmings during population booms, and the corresponding leftovers of predatory frenzies: lemmings do not explode.

Gauging Interest in Hosting Rewatches on Here

I always liked reading along with the /r/anime rewatches, but never got around to really actively participate in them, partly due to lack of time and partly due to different timezones meaning that my comments would come pretty late to the discussion. Also a lot of commenters wrote these really long and elaborate texts, it was honestly almost intimidating.

That being said, this is a different, still much smaller community, and the bar for visibility is lower. I think it would work with an adapted format, like one parent post per rewatch with toplevel comments per episode. The default post sorting on Lemmy takes into account comment activity, so such posts wouldn't drop off the "front page" too quickly and not clutter the community either.

There was some discussion about doing airing show discussions in that format, but the counter argument was avoiding spoilers for people who are not caught up. But for rewatches, I don't see that being so much of an issue. In fact, keeping all spoilers for one show in a single post could even be an advantage.

Yamada-kun to Lv999 no Koi wo Suru - Episode 12 Discussion

Reply in thread

I paused the episode and wanted to yell at the screen when they did that. Stupid misunderstanding romcom tropes make me want to drop a show immediately.

Pulled myself together though and continued watching, and thankfully this one doesn't seem to play out as I feared. It might even have given Yamada the necessary push to give Yukari a clear answer... which can only be a no, right? RIGHT?

Akane's confession got Yukari-blocked, but that scene in front of the konbini with her and Yamada was very sweet. Almost as good as a confession.

Mahou Shoujo Magical Destroyers — Episode 11

Wow. Cat's outta the bag, huh? Kyotaro is Origin, and Shobon is producing all this for her entertainment (and to live out his fantasy of getting back at Otaku-dom for not appreciating his genius).

Gotta say, that's actually a weaker reveal than I would have expected, but it's certainly surprising. All the predictions based on the imagery in the ED were apparently way off-base (unless there's another twist in the final episode).

The imagery was all the more impressive in this episode. Reminded me of Evangelion 3.0+1.0. And Slayer's realization that doing what she loves means beating Anarchy into a pulp was... almost heartwarming?

This show leaves me with so many conflicting feelings. I don't know if I'll even give it a rating after it's finished. It's somehow a masterpiece and trite trash at the same time.

lemmy.ml/c/piracy and lemmy.world/c/piracy do not show the same content. This a problem.

Content is federated by default, it's how I'm reading your post in https://lemmy.world/c/[email protected] and not in https://lemmy.ml/c/lemmy

What you propose and mean by "federated" (combining communities across instances by default) presents significant technical difficulties, because there is no central authority of existing communities across all Lemmy instances. Imagine someone sets up a new instance, and some user there creates a community "foo" and becomes its moderator.
Then this instance begins federating with another one, where a community "foo" created by a different user already exists. Which one is the "correct" one? Who is its moderator?

What are five of your favorite voice actors?

You know, the main reason I didn't comment here earlier is that I find it basically impossible to narrow it down to 5. I'm always bumping against MAL's stupid "maximum 10 favorites per category" limit, where to make matters worse they decided that all real people are a single category.

That said: for voice actors, I distinguish between "breadth" (the range of different characters they can convincingly play) and "depth" (the acting skill of portraying a character realistically through a wide range of situations and emotions).

There are some seiyuu that excel at one of these dimensions. E.g. Atsumi Tanezaki has amazing breadth, from Mizore to Vivy to Anya to Futaba. Also Yumiri Hanamori.
Tomoyo Kurosawa has great depth, I don't think there is any other seiyuu who can play a teenage girl as realistically as her, with all the little vocal quirks.

But the greatest have both, breadth and depth. HanaKana, Aki Toyosaki, Nao Touyama, Maaya Sakamoto, Saori Hayami are in that category for me.

Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
