Anybody else think it’s kind of a self-dig that we’re referred to as lemmings?
I think it’s kind of funny, not sure if it was intended that way. Aren’t lemmings known for following each other, even if it is clearly not the right thing to do?
“I'll take my seat atop the Brooklyn Bridge With a Coke and a bag of chips To watch a thousand lemmings plummet just because The first one slipped” -Aesop Rock, 9-5ers Anthem
Lemmings jumping off a cliff is a myth set up for a "documentary" by Disney. They literally chased them off the cliff to get the footage.
So it's actually pretty apropos, as most people are going to be confused/ill-informed about what Lemmy is for a while.
In a way, especially after reddit debacle some of us have been "driven" here too by shitty companies chasing after profits.
That's true! Though hopefully this doesn't end up being a "cliff" XD
Thank you for pointing this out. 🤘🏼
Lemmings are cute
That's the only lemmings I knew
We are all cute in this blessed place.
(Yeah they are pretty cute)
On the other hand lemmings don’t actually do that! 😁
If you're a good gamer, no Lemming has to die: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lemmings_(video_game)
I think it's funny. Also, while just researching to debunk the common "Lemmings committin mass suicide misconception", I came across these additional gems:
People back then were mindbogglingly stupid to believe that.
I am absolutely certain that future humans (should they exist) will say the same about our society, especially after the rise of "social media".
not "lemons"?
We should all be lemmies. Named after the greatest man in all of music.
I'd argue that we be called Plants in that scenario.
As long as nobody suggests “Buble’s”…
Yes... But I have made peace with it.
Main developer (Dessalines) describe it as such :
That's good enough for me and his efforts deserves acknowledgment 😌
