If Reddit users are Redditors, are Lemmy users Lemurs?
We are mostly called "lemmings" here.

Like Brazil, the European Union also has an X problem.
Please do ban X in EU. The people need to switch to better alternatives like Mastodon.

My mom posted something similar to this, about not giving consent to Facebook to sell her data while using Facebook for free. Seems like her friends did this and recommended it to her as well.
Oh the irony.

Discussion: People who use Kagi search don't understand how does Kagi work.
Well, yeah. It's pretty much the same as SearXNG. Except paid, closed source and needs an account to function. The results are better though, I'll give you that.
...and the pricing is absurd. I'd like to disable all the AI bullshit and get a discount.
If it was self hostable, I'd always recommend it over SearXNG. Let's say that it's a better but closed source and paid SearXNG alternative.

Decentralized you say?
Can't wait for the enshittification of this "decentralized" platform.
People are damaging the reputation of real decentralized fediverse platforms like mastodon and lemmy by adding bluesky into the fediverse even though they aren't even decentralized to begin with. Funny

Are you a computer/tech person?
90% of people who joined Lemmy (or the fediverse in general) are tech savvy enough to wrap their head around the concept of federation.

What hobby was easier to get into than you thought?
Programming.
I first realized that I loved it at the age of 11. It's easy to get into but programming itself can be difficult or easy depending on what you are aiming to do and how. I love it both as a hobby and as a high school subject (hopefully as a job in the next few years as well)

what is your Favorite passwords manager and why
Bitwarden. The UI is about to be updated to something more modern so that's no longer is an issue for most people. It's also open source, so yes.
The 10€ per year as the premium subscription is just unbeatable. You pay less than a euro per month for a reliable and robust password manager. And you don't even need the premium subscription, because almost everything is free. I honestly consider it a donation rather than a subscription.

Welcome to Kagi, the paid search engine full of surprises, which today opened an account in the Fediverse!
I pay 5 euros for a VPS at Hetzner and self host my own SearXNG metasearch engine without compromising my privacy. Unlike Kagi, I can search without limits and without the AI stuff that even Kagi has started getting into.

Zig vs Rust. Which one is going to be future?
Google has already started to use Rust in their android operating system. Linux started getting Rust stuff. Rust has the speed of C/C++ while having memory safety. Zig does not have the same memory safety as Rust, it's a mere C/C++ alternative. Does that answer your question?

I don't mind paying for YouTube Premium.
I wouldn't mind paying for YouTube Premium, if:
But both of them seem like things that can never become true (especially the first point), so yes. I am hoping for PeerTube to get attention when YouTube starts breaking down.
