Trump Blurts Out Plot to Rig Midterms So Vile It Even Shocks GOPers

Reply in thread

New Jim Crow has prevented people from voting for a long time. Ask any of the people now barred from voting because they smoked a plant that's now legal and making the wealthy class a lot of money.

The American myth of democracy is a strong one, but it needs to die. Even aside from the new jim crow (which Michelle Alexander lays out much more coherently than I did above in her book), half the population doesn't vote and we are only given two choices which the half that do vote openly calls their own party evil, as in lessor of two evils, evil.

Dont even get me started on our campaigns to "spread democracy" across the world.

We havent had democracy in a long time, if ever. Its always been the rich vs the rest of us. Its time to wake up.

While i question your kcal count, i agree that swimming is one of the few great exercises for weight loss.

Also what most people consider very long distance running (like at least 20 miles per week, realistically even more) is great. IIRC your body doesn't even start to primarily burn fat until like 30 or 40 minutes into an intense workout and it's slow to burn any.

Pay attention you are at the gym. 90% of the people on treadmills are walking with the vast majority getting off after 20 to 30 minutes. Dont get me wrong. Its better than doing nothing, but its like bare minimum maintenence and definitely not even close to fat loss.

People burn through a small amount of their glycogen stores at the gym. Maybe 100 to 200 calories. Go home and drink a 500 calorie smoothie as a reward and wonder why they aren't losing weight.

Stephen Colbert’s unaired James Talarico interview hits 6.4 million YouTube views and results in $2.5 million raised for Talarico’s campaign in 24 hours

Reply in thread

"That’s an astounding number for a video that has been up for less than 48 hours — and already puts it among the top political interviews that have ever been posted by “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” since its launch in 2015. It’s also easily the most-watched YouTube clip so far this year for “The Late Show” — and its most-watched Colbert clip since one in September, where the host celebrated the return of fellow host Jimmy Kimmel after his own battle with his parent network (ABC) and the FCC. "

New Years Eve

This should be higher. The days have become longer which means the humans will not die in a dark cold forever winter. The warmth will return, the crops will have another season and the lengthening of daylight hours is the harbinger of future good tidings.

The creator of the meme is in fact the idiot who doesn't realize his entire physical sustenance is dependent on this cycle.

Edit: I'm an idiot who didn't realize I'm using some weird sorting algo and apparently winter solstice was already highly upvoted.

Discuss salaries!

Reply in thread

As someone who detests small talk, this is one of the few times when it is essentially.

First step is learning if they are a snitch. Second is seeing if they can be critical of workplace. Third is bringing up your own salary. Fourth is asking for theirs if they don't immediately reciprocate on step 3.

In practice there are many ways this can happen. Here is one reasonable example:

Did you see the bosses [insert anything, tie, shoes, car, your pick] today. OmG!

[Wait a day or two for any sign that made it back to your boss. Prepare a convincing cover up story in the event he/she/it is a snitch.]

2-4

Our health insurance is terrible isnt it? I swear its like they pick the cheapest option. [Replace the above with any other unpopular opinion depending on how critical the response is of your workplace you can jump immediately to steps 3-4]

I heard a lot of employers like to pay people differently for the exact same work and I dont think thats right. Thats why I want you to know I make Y. If you make less I can help you argue for more. Do you mind sharing your salary too?

You can sometimes just jump straight to step 3 or 4 if you are feeling confident. But do be aware. You can save someone's job and the boss will corner them in an office and some of them will still rat you out. Happened to me personally. The above isnt without risk. But do not be afraid of humans, especially middle management humans. They are usually the weakest people I've ever met.

Banned for being a "known tankie"

I got into an argument with pug like 3 days ago (over an admittedly hot take of mine, which he screenshotted and shared in the same community)

In came Phil to play the good cop but ultimately ended up being the exact same type of troll, as I interpreted it then. At least he had the exact same type of antagonistic bad faith interpretation of my words.

Good to know I'm not the only one to think something weird was going on with them. If they aren't the same person, they sure share the same online schedule and biases a lot.

Probably several real reasons... and i think he just throws shit at the wall until he finds something that sticks but this one stuck because among his followers it ticks several boxes...

He already did a dry run in Los Angeles, literally chasing harmless day laborers through Home Depot parking lots. Newsom (Cali Gov) made it more difficult by trolling him on social media. (I realize how insane that sounds but he just has the temperament of a teenage boy). So he is probably thinking of something even more insane to do to us in Cali or at least knows he's playing with fire.

New York he is lowkey working on a deal with Cuomo (former mayor now running as a spoiler candidate to the socialist who beat him in the primary election).

Chicago is an easier target. The only other city I've heard him float is New Orleans (which is unlike any other city I've been to in the states for its amazing seafood, bars, walkable areas, music, eg culture... notably Black culture)

His mostly rural base loves it. Not only is it cities that they have been other-ing and blaming [insert South Park - They took 'er jobs meme] for their problems their whole lives. It is also abuse of minorities. So it is like saying "you know how you complain about cities and they happen to be brown and black. Im going to fix that problem and it just so happens to be by going after those people who don't look like you. wink wink, nudge nudge"
