Linus T..... (choose wisely)

Reply in thread

Could be mistaken, but supposedly Linus knew about the part where Honey was screwing over affiliates (like himself), and claims that was public-enough knowledge in the creator community at the time that he didn’t feel compelled to say more, not the part where Honey was screwing over customers, too. Also, didn’t he credit Steve via a pinned comment to that video?

It's just more convenient

I still remember several months into the pandemic how my then-company's VP brought up how we can go back into the office, but we wouldn't be able to meet in the same room or be in close proximity to each other, and so any/all communications would still need to be done via MS Teams.

I think even he realized how ridiculous that sounded because there was a momentary pause before he finished his sentence.

Best things to host on a raspberry pi

I've been leaning this way lately. From a cost/capability standpoint, RPis were easy to justify when they were ~$30, but not as much at their current inflated prices unless you have specific power consumption and form factor requirements. Used/refurbished Dell thin clients and MFF PCs can be had for $40-100, ranging from fanless systems with low-power Atoms and Celerons to full-fledged desktops with Core i-series CPUs, all with memory and storage included more often than not. I personally just picked up a Dell OptiPlex MFF with an i5-9500T, 8GB RAM, and 256GB SSD for $100.

Some trouble

Reply in thread

Yeah, but it’s Linux!

There’s definitely no reason to install it on anything other than a handheld or PC being used as a console, though. It’s not officially available anyway - only way to install the version found on the SD onto anything else right now is via Holo ISO.

Apple Event - Tuesday 12 September 2023

They can’t slow down the charging rate unless they want to get in trouble with the EU. If they’re planning to limit the data transfer rate for, say, non-Pro iPhones, that would suck, but then again all iPhones to date have been USB 2.0 at best, and USB Type-C is just the connector and doesn’t say anything about data transfer rates anyway.

Getting angry may help you achieve your goals, study suggests

That is legit. A few years ago I was working at a job that was... okay. Big name in my industry, paid the bills, etc. I was occasionally looking at and applying for other jobs on the side, but nothing serious. Then something happened at work that royally pissed me off, which mixed with the amount of pain I was physically in at the time after getting my first COVID shot resulted in a massively-escalated search for a new job, which ultimately landed me in a much better place.

So yeah, anger makes shit happen.

Any Metroid fans on Lemmy?

Yup! I grew up playing Super Metroid on the SNES and played Fusion in college on the GBA. When Dread was announced, I decided to play through the 2D games chronologically in anticipation, with AM2R substituting for Samus Returns, and finishing up with Dread. Looking forward to the next installment!
