Just got 'Android Developer Verifier' Silently Installed on my Phone (Aug 25, 2026)
What happens if you try to install an unverified apk now? Like is there a message or something? Does it go away after just uninstalling the developer verifier?

Ah okey, thanks for the info :)
Better hope they do not merge it into Google Play Services then and that I didn't just jinx that to happen...

My Bank works even without microG or some other Google supplement. It does show a warning on the initial boot that it might not, but it does. They also do not require to have the app, but its still nice to have.

Sorry for the confusion. Im not sure if users actually use the local only "user tags" in summit, for me at least it would be best to just replace those with the notes that are synced with the servers.
Im actually not sure what "user tags" are on lemmy or piefed only saw that term used in summit.
EDIT: Thank you for putting it up on the roadmap :)

My Nokia 7110 is online
This is really cool! Thank you for providing the link to the guide. I have my old Sony Ericsson T310 laying around and just checked it also has WAP! (Version 2 though I am not sure if this is a problem) This is really enticing to give it a try, but I should know better and focus on my current projects :(

They do not need to be, as they can just use the AppStore/PlayStore release.

Besides Molly through F-Droid you can also get it through Obsidian from GitHub which I believe comes with a self updater anyways.

A question for GNOME/KDE users
Reply in thread
I wanna say yes, but it really does not make a whole lot of sense.
GNOME is less space efficient which on a smaller display is crucial. It does have better touchscreen support in case your laptop has that (and the bigger margins do come in handy here). But i know it might sound weird but GNOME fits the vibe of a laptop better. No surprise it gets often compared to macOS and KDE being the Windows equivalent. Its just less serious... just as a laptop is. Not that you don't get shit done on there, its just a bit more cozy :)
I have an eye on https://sinty.dev/ as well though I think there is already a alpha out, but I have done enough distro/de hoping this and last year :) From what I can tell its GNOME but with less margins. The design is still very libadwaita like which makes modern GNOME apps not look out of place. It is from the same developer that did Vanilla OS and Bottles so this won't be abandoned too quickly. In the age of vibe coded and quickly forgotten garbage you can't be too sure about that.

GrapheneOS: The initial devices with GrapheneOS support should be available in 2027. The initial devices will be flagships so they'll be higher end hardware than Pixels at a higher price.

Yea, have 120Hz on my Desktop Monitor since 2016 and am now stuck with it myself, weirdly enough I still don't miss it on my phone as my brain just does not expect it there.
You probably could trick your brain and just reduce it 1Hz at a time?

These wonderful people are behind LibreOffice, offering a free alternative to Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel. Remarkably, most of them contribute on a completely unpaid volunteer basis
Just the other day I was reading their RSS feed where they often post pictures of their meetups and thought the same thing! Even thought about posting something like this myself.
Maybe also because just before that I was using an unconfigured edge browser with all the tabloid media on the new tab still activated. Its full with all the latest drama and gossip from celebrities and I was like "who TF cares?!?!?". This is so much better, just humans being really cool!

I do not worry about that: I live in Germany. I'll be long dead before anything changes around here 👍

A question for GNOME/KDE users
KDE is too inconsistent when it comes to margins and font sizes. I still have it installed on my Desktop PC which ever so often use to see how things are going.
My daily driver (laptop) runs GNOME though. I do not like the slightly too large margins and the flat design (old skeuomorphism icons was peak). It is consistent and despite what everyone says thanks to Extensions customisable enough. Here is my extension list:
and of course:
It is really cozy and I like it very much. :)

how much they drank, and then asking about their health
this kinda read as if they asked them about there health while they were drunk :) Would have made for an interesting curve.
