Carney is throwing a party, and you’re not invited

Reply in thread

I would argue increasing investment in Canada at a time when we’re economically distressed is a pertinent move that would produce a net positive for Canada when you consider the alternative.

I would happily condemn such behaviour in more fruitful times when we had the capacity to place greater value on higher level needs. However, in our current circumstance we have to make difficult choices.

Stealing bread to feed your family is still stealing, but it’s most definitely in the grey area or morality.

Prime Minister Mark Carney says Canada is ‘at war’ with US over trade, urges Canadians to resist

Reply in thread

A minister of AI makes sense, you can’t just ignore it.

A stable economic environment allows for us to make investments today that pay off in the future, but in a war like environment you need to mobilize the infrastructure you have and build support around it. Whether we like it or not we have a number of valuable resources in the ground and we need to start moving those resources elsewhere so we can invest in a renewable future.

There’s a lot of stuff I disagree with Carney on, but what I appreciate about him is that he is a pragmatist. He understands that at times you have to put your personal values aside and take the action that makes the most sense.

Winston Churchill was a racist, but he had the balls to take on Germany and not bend. Lincoln hindered post war reconstruction and his authoritarian overreach was unprecedented but he was the only person willing to tear a nation apart to rebuild it.

Leaders need to be able to put themselves aside to make decisions that produce the most utility for those they lead. This means occasionally getting pie on your face or going against your own heart. A snake acts dishonestly with malice, that’s not what’s going on here. Our current circumstances demand pragmatism we can’t crucify the only person in the room willing to act like one in the face of that.

Bad Bunny’s Record-Breaking Halftime Ratings Crush Kid Rock

What made the halftime show so great was that it was a celebration of something Bad Bunny actually cared about. He cared enough to want to share with you the lovely little things about his culture that make it special.

I don’t know what Kid Rock loves or cares about or wants to share (I actually have one idea but it’s gross). I do know what he hates. Nobody wants to hang out with an asshole I’d much rather go for good vibes with a language barrier.

People will jump to blame children who bring an immeasurable amount of joy to someone’s life (if they’re ready for them) but we won’t recognize the stagnant wages, unaffordable necessities, and stagnant opportunities that actually make it so hard.

you can do whatever you want with a child at your side. There’s one thing that gets in the way. Money.

What do you belive is the best reddit alternative?

Reddit has gotten impossible with that nonsense. I got banned from a sub for calling out someone who posted a tweet about tariffs being beneficial as a scholarly source. I said, this isn’t a source it’s some guys opinion.

In another sub I got banned for suggesting that liberals claim to be above using attack ads was a dumb opinion because they’ve never said any such thing.

The polarization is bad for everyone.
