Nitrogen fertilizer is massively over-applied globally. 1/3 less fertilizer will help with farmers paying attention to getting the best result for the lowest amount of N applied.

It will also increase interest in some better cropping practices like growing legumes as a covercrop.

So even though usage will be down, yields are unlikely to massively take a dive from less N.

The largest issue is drought/flooding and extreme temperatures. Climate change makes a farming system built upon more predictable weather insufficient.

Smaller portion = less sugar, fat, salt, calories etc... If I remember correctly a few states have addressed making unrealistic portion sizes for the label as making misleading claims.

They also got more exercise as more of the population was engaged in physical labor (women's land army) and factory work to produce food and war goods.

You could proactively take care of it with a reminder on the calendar. Or alternatively, just let the community inform you when you need to renew it. Both are effective methods.

Solo garlic is planted in the late spring/early summer and harvested late summer.

Regular garlic is planted in the fall and allowed to over-winter then harvested around mid-summer.

The clove forming process is triggered by reaching enough time at cool enough temperature. 50-60 days below 10C or 30-40days under 4C for most cultivars. There is some variation based upon genetics.

My favorite was when a car runs a yellow light at the same time I ease my foot off the brake to get the engine started in preparation for going forward. The autostart and brake assist had a little tiff of errors and stalled the vehicle.. I had to turn the engine off and restart it to reset it.

That was great.

So lane assist is off, adaptive cruise control is off, driver attention is off (with some electrical tape over the fucking stupid thing) and brake assist is off. The only things on is the blind spot monitoring because that sort of works and the backup camera.

Last time I was had a rental car, I was driving down a rural curvy road with no traffic. So I cut the corners whenever visibility allowed it. The computer freaked the fuck out and finally turned off after tossing a "Maintenance needed error". I laughed my ass off over that one.

Elongated thinner leaves, softer texture, and smaller overall size = adaptations to lower light levels. It needs more light.

Either move it to a brighter location or give it some supplemental lighting.

If I recall correctly something stupid high like 80% of their revenue from flights is from frequent travelers. These travelers are generally loyal to an airline because of the benefits from sticking with a network. I spent a year buying regular coach tickets and being upgraded to 1st class on all but 2 flights out of around 150 when I was traveling (I hit the top tier on the frequent traveler program)

The thing that this dumbass CEO is missing, is that these flyers are still on a budget and there is still some competition. The whales will swim away if you attempt to screw them over. This is why airlines have status matching programs for frequent travelers.

Failure of the entire system is almost always is always at critical bottlenecks. Avoiding these bottlenecks is a key component of military and economic competency.

The U.S. military and economy has been declining for decades. Why? Consolidation of companies into mega-corporations. Less competition = more cost for less results. Less players also means more potential bottlenecks in the system.

It's been being held together by a shoestring for decades now. It's getting more and more unstable as time goes by. This is where gross incompetence at the leadership level can sink not just an industry but an entire nation.

If the FCC bans drones flying over their herd, they can freely shoot, net, etc them down before they injure the animals. Currently drone operators would be liable for damage only after it is caused.

I do occasionally entertain myself when bored around organic enthusiast. I mention that the organic industry use of manure is completely dependent on factory farming of beef, chicken and the widespread use of GMO crops. Gets some of the more ignorant people all worked up.

Meat processing plants are a very different environment from a "factory farm" aka feedlots. They haul the animals in, pen them for a short time under tight quarters with just water. Then push them through the killing line. Due to the tight quarters they don't have much room to move around and injure themselves. There is also only a couple of mega-companies that own these facilities today. They do care very much about their image to the public.

Feedlots or dairies are where cattle are confined for years. They are extremely skittish of anything new due to lack of exposure. Since there are thousands of these around and they are more removed from the consumer, they tend to care more about immediate monetary losses more than PR.
