[Solved] What are the reasons behind the “no booby-traps” laws in the US? Are there similar laws in Canada?

Reply in thread

The person failed to mention that the guy whose mail box got hit hasn't been successfully sued, just that a lawsuit had been brought against them. Ultimately the person with the mailbox was not held liable. You can watch a video about it here

As an edit, this case had nothing to do with booby trap laws, so I am not sure why it was used as an example.

Systemd v261-rc1 is out with the 'birth date field'

Reply in thread

Did you ignore the comment in the github where it, and I quote "Stores the user's birth date for age verification, as required by recent laws in California (AB-1043), Colorado (SB26-051), Brazil (Lei 15.211/2025), etc.". Yes it is optional NOW, but this is in preparation of laws that make it legally Mandatory. Don't down play this.

Those who would commit atrocity use dehumanizing language to justify horrible things. Let's leave that to the fascist of the world. We don't have to act as if a person isn't human to recognize their evil. Humans are capable of great love and great evil. Avoiding dehumanizing someone is not forgiving them for the terrible things they have done. Why do you need to view something as not human to recognize it's evil? That, honestly worries me. We can serve justice to these terrible people and still call them human.

Lol, since when do most people have enough choice to decide how your living space looked at this level? I rent so I don't decide that the door is in front of the cabinet, I get what find in a space. Even if I had my own place, do you think I can necessarily afford a several thousand dollar reno just to fix this?

Who could have seen it coming?

As other people have stated, you do not need to worry about the AUR issue specifically since Bazzite is not based on Arch Linux. Also, unless you are building Node based application (node being a JavaScript based runtime environment), you shouldn't have to worry about that one.

That said, these platforms are just the latest targets because they have huge enterprise user bases. Any centralized repository has the potential for vulnerability, especially ones with unvetted user submissions.

Yeah that is me 😢 it's not a fun existence, bought my laptop when I still used windows and don't have the money to get one without Nvidia GPU. It is working (right now), but I just got over having to nuke my install because trying to fix issues with it recently caused issues with other drivers for some reason.
