Just got fired today and I don't know why
If they contact you about anything related to that job you are now a consultant at 5x your previous salary per hour at whatever minimum you choose.

SWAT Team Raids Innocent Family Over Stolen AirPods Dropped on Their Street
Stolen airpods? The cops around here would not even look for a stolen car.

Police union complains of "anti-police bigotry" when San Francisco bakery won't sell doughnuts to cops in uniform
They will not serve anyone who is armed including police officers. I’m fine with that policy.

Microsoft CEO says unfair practices by Google led to its dominance as a search engine
I don't care about either, just want better search back. Does anyone remember when you could search for a specific product or part and the first link was to the manufacturer? Now you have to sort through sponsored content, various retailers, link spam, paywalled articles, video reviews (usually made by bots), and social media posts to get to the manufacturers website.

Could Google be using Reddit to revive an ancient, failed project? — 60,000+ Redditors may well be mTurk’ing for Google Answers 2.0
Many people volunteered to moderate reddit for the benefit their community. The company screwed over the community and the CEO was compensated $193mil last year Source
Why would anyone stay for free?

What do you miss from the old internet?
Search engines with actual results, now every search is about trying to sell you something. Searching for a product used to pull up its manufacturer and specs, now its just where to buy it or something like it.

Society is strange
Yeah my mom told me as a kid that if I quit school I would have to dig ditches for a living. Those guys are union with high pay and good job security because we always need proper drainage just like we always need garbage to go away.

I just checked the price and its $599 for the hardware + $99 deposit + $50 shipping. After that the service costs $120/month. I pay $65/month for fiber at the moment.

is telling your employer you may leave if passive aggressive coworkers don't stop gossiping about you behind your back and gaslighting you a good idea?
I would tell a manager or HR about your problems but not tell them you plan to leave unless you are ready to get fired or hours cut.

What driving concept you feel that most drivers don't understand?
Taking your foot off the gas and slowing down gradually when you see a red light ahead. People seem to floor it up to the light then stop as quickly as possible.

AFAIK esim is not available everywhere and it's also less private since you need to register an account to activate rather than pay cash and pop in the card.

Even Apple finally admits that 8GB RAM isn't enough
8GB is definitely not enough for coding, gaming, or most creative work but it’s fine for basic office/school work or entertainment. Heck my M1 Macbook Air is even good with basic Photoshop/Illustrator work and light AV editing. I certainly prefer my PC laptop with 32GB and a dedicated GPU but its power adapter weighs more than a Macbook Air.

I laugh at the Ford every time I see it. Today i got at chance to park next to it and the the size difference is comically large.
I’m American and live in an older suburb of a fairly large city. Half of the neighborhood seems to have a full sized truck, an extra large SUV or both in their driveway. The reason they are in the driveway is that most people can’t fit these vehicles in their garage. Older homes have smaller garages built for the cars made at the time. On the few occasions I need to haul large items I can rent a truck from the hardware store by the hour, or a cargo van for the day.
