In 1981 Patrick was contacted by John Coletti, owner of famed gay porn company Fox Studio in Los Angeles. John had heard about Patrick's music from the legendary Sylvester and proposed he write music for his films. Patrick jumped on this offer and sent reels of his college compositions from the 70s to John in LA. Coletti then used a variable speed oscillator to adjust the pitch and speed of Patrick's songs in-sync with the film scene. "School Daze" is a collection of Cowley's instrumental songs recorded between 1973 and 1981 found in the Fox Studio vaults.

Released by Dark Entries Records, who specialize in this kind of obscure finds — and also in gay music, judging by some of their covers.

Most of the lyrics are nonsensical glossolalia.

The song wasn't released on any studio album, to my knowledge.

Not sure how surf rock got into this mix of genres, but I'm not complaining. Seems that Persian motifs and noise-rock converged on the surf sound somehow.

Alas, it seems that many of the tracks are blocked on Youtube in Germany, US, and other countries. In any case, I recommend getting a proper release of the full compilation because it's mastered quite nicely, while the Youtube videos are collected from different releases. Unfortunately, I could only find it for free in torrents and SoulSeek. Dunno about paid services like the Spotifies and Tidals.

There's also a great sequel compilation ‘Modern Wild Dub: Dread Meets Disco Punkrocker Downtown’ (link to Discogs) — as specified, more on the post-disco side and featuring some more modern bands. But I couldn't find it on Youtube at all, perhaps separate tracks are there.

Also includes Nils Petter Molvær on the trumpet, Sly Dunbar on drums, Tigist Shibabaw on vocal co-duty, and Laswell's perennial team of the guitarist Nicky Skopelitis and various percussionists.

Wobble and Laswell also recorded another collaborative album ‘Realm of Spells’ in 2019, with more jazz in it.

This is basically the 2020 album ‘Come and See’ live — apparently the album itself was recorded live with 'little to no overdubs', but the quality is of course better.

Also, if anyone knows a better fitting genre description for this, please let me know.
