‘Alien: Earth’ Star Timothy Olyphant Wants Everybody to Relax About Reboots

...I don’t have a problem with people remaking or rebooting things. I mean, everybody goes to Broadway to see the same couple plays every few years. It’s such a dumb, shallow argument to say Hollywood has no new ideas just because they’re rebooting things.

He seems like a really chill dude, and I'm happy he keeps getting work. The bulk of the article was a good read, despite the title being a little click bait from one question.

I understand the monetization of our member-berries can throttle the space where new ideas can have a better chance to come through, but IMO audiences [myself included] and the industry are equally to blame. If more and more crap reboots happen, hopefully this cannibalizing system will eventually crash and more original ideas will be attempted.

If a movie is crap it's crap whether or not it's a reboot. It's a weird hypocrisy in my head that I hate the latest Jurassic Park turds but really really hope this Alien movie is gonna be good.

'3 Body Problem' Season 2 To Introduce 4 Major New Characters as Filming Begins

I wasn't a big fan of the Netflix attempt, and the more accurate Chinese series was a little bit better, but neither were groundbreaking. I actually think Apple's Foundation is a good example of deviating from the source material and being entertaining on its own -this is not a popular opinion with the Asimov purists.

That said Liu's books don't get really good until after the first IMO so I hope that Netflix can improve this next season.

It's still a powerful research tool, but I can't help smiling that this gives a big middle finger to my "oh we're so cool and look at all our MRI funding" neuro graduate lab PIs.

In truth, those fuckers probably still have more money than they need and are still writing lab notes on their glass whiteboards.
