Oak Leaf Trail Projects Could Start in 2024

The oak leaf trail is a real gem! Excited to see it get continued love. Particularly love the idea of a new access point.

Its total pie in the sky, but i would love to see the north and south sections of the trail get connected by utilizing the hoan (like take just 2 of the 6 lanes to create a linear park)

As Milwaukee weighs ending single-family-only zoning, public feedback sought

Here is more info if youre interested :) https://engage.milwaukee.gov/growingmke

All the recommendations & presentation material are here as well as a survey and other contact info.

Its actually a really cool change that (IMO) will really benefit the city. Went to the open house yesterday & was impressed. As OPs article mentions, it really focuses on encouraging small scale multi-family dwellings like duplexes, ADUs, townhouses, etc.

Stay safe out there everybody! This is crazy

It really is crazy! Visibility is super low, lots of people with masks, and a high uv index on top of it lol. Hopefully it will dissipate soon.

Whats crazier are the restaurants who still think today is a good day to open all their windows lol. Walked past one downtown today & felt so bad for the workers.

See The State’s Design Concepts For Replacing Or Rebuilding Interstate 794

So awesome! Been waiting forever for them to release their proposals! Excited to see them finally arrive :)

I agree that freeway removal option 2 seems best & will most certainly be attending all the public meetings to advocate for it. NGL though, I'd honestly be pretty thrilled with most of the options they presented... They all seem like a really significant upgrade for walkability through downtown, particularly improvement options 2/5/6. I'm really impressed with what they came up with.

Donors Interested in Saving Mitchell Park | But not necessarily saving the domes. Local supervisor, Parks and philanthropic community moving toward a new Mitchell Park project.

I know its a super unpopular opinion, but i wouldnt mind seeing the domes torn down/replaced with a new botanical garden.

I find the domes to be rather underwhelming compared to other botanical gardens & find the facility to be rather inefficiently laid out.

I think losing the domes with no botanical garden replacement would be a big loss for the city, but dont really see the domes themselves as particularly worth saving.
