You'll never guess what will happen if you try to print out a shell script!

Some people hear the Dark Souls intro and go "aw yeah, now we're in for some challenging shit."
But not me.
I suffered through this.
Got 90-something percent done.
I keep listening to this music.
God-damn.
One day. One day.
Then I'll go for Dark Souls.
These Russian Tortoises (Testudo horsfieldii) were the first animals to go around the Moon! (Along with some fruit fly eggs and plants and such. But the turts were probably the smartest of the bunch.) They went on the Soviet Zond-5 mission.
It is sad that they were subject to invasive scientific experiments, which meant they were euthanised after the flight. Hardly a treatment worthy of space pioneers! I wish they had been subject to other kind of scientific experiments. (Like, how about this: let's have a group of these tortoises, some go into the spacecraft and some don't, and then we monitor them until the end of their natural lifespans and see if the spaceflight affected them. That would have been good data. And would have let these shell-buddies to just be shell-buddies.)
Edit: Oh I forgot how camera-shy these buddies look in the photo. Turt on the right: Doing the Turtle Thing. Turt on the left: This is why they are called turtlenecks, people.
You may not like this fact, but here it is: This remaster of a 1989 game was released in 2013. That's a retro remaster that is, in itself, getting retro!
Now, if you're a Reddit refugee, here's some comparison to the Rules we have here:
No avatars
We do have avatars in Lemmy/Piefed! Nobody will give a damn because most of people use Voyager and it doesn't support avatars. Now, Reddit did introduce avatars later on, and if you use NFT avatars here, you'll be mocked relentlessly.
No shouting
Just type normally dude
No factional particularism
...Everything is political. If you disagree with this you're goiing to have a hard time. In society.
Do not speak in meme
Be comprehensible to your audience. Aside of that meme all you want
No source discrimination
Well given what we now know, that was a shit policy, wasn't it? Communities ban sources for a reason.
Dupe is not a crime
Old is not a crime
It started to become a crime in Reddit once they actually implemented source checking. Let me reiterate: Dupe/Old is not a crime in Lemmy/Piefed, because we don't have tools to check for dupes, and at this point, we probably don't want them
No revanchism
I don't know what the fuck happened in Digg to this to be a rule. Probably a good rule to stick to.
Do not plot social revolt
Ah ha ha ha ha! On the contrary, WE WILL PLOT IT ALL THE TIME. (Just not in the way .ml does it)
Obey User Administrators
We don't have bots. ...come to think of it, why do all of the shit get removed in Reddit these days for practically no humanly explainable reason? Hmmmmmmm.
(Sorry, finding English original on Disney comics is pretty damn hard. This is a retranslation.)
(You Wouldn't Download a Car)
I don't fucking know why I can't eject USB hard drives. I installed the SysInternals apps, and best they can tell me is that Dropbox is fucking with the drives. I explicitly told Dropbox to not fuck with USB drives. I don't know who's lying, I just want whoever is fucking with the drives to stop fucking with the drives, OK??? OK.
Apparently a page from an internal IBM training manual. Some further attempts at source it
(Also, bog off, Nintendo®, for paywalling The Mario®)
From PC version of Space Crusade (1992)
Warning: May introduce high levels of Yamaha OPL-2 Groove to your space hulk purging operations.
Composed by Barry Leitch (who also did a whole bunch of Commodore 64 soundtracks, can't you tell?)
