Colorado Hospital Finally Admits to Cutting Lakota Elder’s Hair Without His Permission

Reply in thread

This is actually a really good hospital. I imagine someone carlessly cut it for convenience, a stupid thing to do.

I think the protest is because then the hospital, instead of saying "Holy shit, I'm so sorry... this is terrible, what can we do to make up for it?"... they responded with "What hair?", "I think he probably cut it himself" and "No comment". That was compounding stupid mistakes.

I'm 100% sure that it stands for Three-Letter-Acronym. The joke is that it's an inscrutable business acronym to make fun of inscrutable business acronyms.

I actually used to do this during orientation sessions at my old job. I'd tell the new hires that if they were ever confused by terminology or acronyms, they should never be afraid to ask, because if people are using jargon or TLAs that they don't follow, they will miss the context.

Then I'd pause. If anyone asked what a TLA was, I'd give them a candy bar.

Moms for Liberty and the ‘parental rights’ agenda flopped in 2023

There have been a few notable school districts in my state that got duped by these people over the last 10 years or so, and the pattern is pretty much the same:

  • They get elected by not telling people what they actually beleive
  • They immediately start doing crazy stupid shit
  • They illegally shut down public meetings and comments
  • They illegally hire an independent lawyer at taxpayer expense to defend themselves
  • There is a recall election, and they are removed from office.

It's a huge waste of time and money, and in the end everyone hates these fucks even more than they did to start with, and people are even more interested in voting in local elections. I'm not sure it's a winning long-term strategy for the fascists. You could argue it works to get more progressives and moderates to the voting booth in the long run.

Parent lawsuit demands right to ask teachers to display “straight pride” flags in Denver schools

Reply in thread

Are you claiming that straight people are suffering from a lack of representation? Straight people are represented everywhere in every single aspect of every part of all popular culture in every part of the world, and you know that.

What you're describing is not a lack of representation, it's jealousy that someone else is getting attention that you aren't getting. It seems like less of a movement for equality, and more of a childish temper tantrum, you know?

But if you want to start a straight pride group, go for it. It'll definitely do 2 things: 1) Tell everyone around you that you're the kind of person who would start a straight pride group, and 2) Even if it's not your intention, it'll be a LGBT hate group in less than a week, because thats who's most interested in straight pride.

New Google Trial Docs May Explain Why Search Sucks So Bad Now

I was looking for a foot rest for my outdoor hanging chair this past weekend. So I searched for "hanging chair foot rest". Apparently, there are really popular products out there that are foot rests that hang under your desk, or on an airplane seat, and it clogged up the results. It isn't what I wanted, but it was all I got.

So I searched for "hanging chair foot rest -desk -airplane". And I found that modifiers don't fucking work for Google shopping. They have disabled operators completely. I'm trying to find what I want using methods that used to work fine, and you're saying "no... what you want is this thing you told us you didn't want."

Google sucks. Eat dicks Google.

Google’s “Web Integrity” Android API could kill “alternative” media clients

Because Apple are: closed system, unrepairable, proprietary, refuse to adopt standards, elitist and exclusionary, and generally less flexible and customizable. They are a baby toy, they are any recent BMW, and they are jerks about it.

And somehow, that's becoming the better option over thieves and scammers with bad intentions. I may have to go with the assholes over the bastards. It doesn't feel great.
