EVERYone?

It confuses me too. Most HRT medications were originally developed for cis people. I find it cruel to restrict access for trans and gender non-conforming people when the same treatments are readily available to cis people.

Ominous Positivity

My roommate once came up with a similar idea of a horrific monster always ironing your shirts against your will. You cannot stop it, your shirts will be perfectly ironed and everyone will be in awe at your perfectly ironed shirts. You don’t know where this creature comes from or why it does this, but it’s far too strong to be stopped. IT WILL IRON YOUR SHIRTS!

feel really weird not being able to do a masc voice anymore

That’s cool! I have a friend in a similar position, she insists that she can still boy mode, despite her “boy mode” voice sounding like when a voice actress dubs a barely pubescent boy. At her previous workplace her coworkers got a kick out of every stranger correctly assuming she was a girl and “correcting” them. Tho hearing her story made me feel a lot less anxious about my boy mode, like I don’t need to hide as much.

Same here, everyone goes crazy for it and looks at me with suspicion for not using it. And I look at them with rage when I ask them what something does because it looks sus af and they hit me with “idk, the AI wrote it, it said it had a good reason”. Or when my team lead tells me to work on his AI generated library that we ended up replacing with a 150 line class, I have no clue how he managed to generate an entire project around nothing…

So far the only actually good uses we found for it is as a companion for PRs, because the AI occasionally spots bugs relating to the bloated archaic libraries we use, and for app documentation, because we have 20 years of technical debt and lost knowledge that every human so far has refused to sit through, so an AI summary is better than nothing.

rulecist

I appreciate the history lesson. I was always really confused by the term, but just accepted it as a silly random easy to remember word.

I’d prefer if it wasn’t hidden in the comments tho. Presenting it this way is very much inviting conflict, considering most people have no clue.

What is the result of a programmer's work?

Yea… Tho I’d argue that’s true of most jobs nowadays. Nothing, or somehow less than. Joining the work force has been a very depressing experience so far. Any ambition of learning and or contributing getting annihilated. It’s a compromise that allows me to have a roof and food at the end of the month without living at my parents.
