It's definitely worse and swings more wildly than it did when I was a kid in the 80's. Plus the seasons are shifting, everything seems to start at different times than it used to. It's not bad really, maybe two to four hours a week changing water, cleaning sponges and hatching foods, managing fry etc. I've tried to set it up to be as maintenance friendly as possible.

Well sure, anything specific you're curious about? As far as the setup, I heat the room and just use sponge filters with one central air pump. I tried to make it as easy to maintain as possible so I can enjoy it and not see it like a chore.
