Stonehenge tunnel is approved by government

It might fix everyone slowing down to a crawl as they go past Stonehenge though. The a303 is a dual carriageway that goes down to 1 Lane past stone henge, the new tunnel would stop the bottleneck that happens as it goes past stonehenge, if having a busy road that goes past Stonehenge hasn't affected it's world heritage status, then changing that to a tunnel shouldn't affect it either, if anything it will improve the aesthetics as all you can hear there is the road.
The main question should be, could this money be better spent? The answer is obviously yes.

I have so many questions, how did she get there? is she still in her pyjamas? Did she enter any other races? Is this a prank on her or did she bribe someone? What was going through the other racers minds when she tipped up on the start line? Was she just pulled from the crowd?

If there were a train route along the a303 this may be true. It's also not building an extra Lane the whole route, most of the route is a 2 Lane dual carriageway, this section is not, it gets gridlocked as the roads struggle with it going from 2 lanes to 1 Lane, this is a rural route, everyone already drives anyway.
I'm not defending the building of the tunnel as I no longer need to use it, I couldn't care less. But saying that building the tunnel won't make a difference is completely wrong here as the traffic is not caused because the roads cannot handle the traffic, it's caused because it's a single lane road next to a world heritage monument that everyone slows down to look at it. Building a tunnel will improve the area around the monument and will stop idiots from stopping to take pictures on a single lane road. The extra lane will also prevent the bottleneck caused by going from 2 lanes down to one.

Wilder vs AJ - think it will actually happen?
I believe, then again, I'm a sucker for getting hyped about future fights. The saving grace with this one is AJ and Wilder are both in the right place that this fight makes sense commercially, they both know this is a big payday and a chance to get a another huge payday with potentially the undisputed champ off the back of it, even though that undisputed heavyweight champ is doomed to never happen.

I was just mocking that fact that you would rather insult someone and try to act superior than actually back your argument up with any kind of facts.
I never said that building more roads doesn't lead to more traffic in all scenarios as there are plenty of scenarios where this is true. I provided plenty of reasons to convey why this is not relevant in this scenario. Rather than counter my argument with any relevant fact, you reverted to a smug insult presuming that I don't use public transport and that you are superior for using it.
Have a nice evening.

c/boxing is under new moderation

Hi mate, from me
I think you're spot on with memes, let's see how it runs out, if memes got out of hand we could dedicate a day in the week as engagement will always be lower on a weekday. We're a long way from worrying about it for now.
24 hours no spoiler rule works well in the other place as it means people won't stay away if they want to avoid the results.
Illegal stream links are probably risky and I'd imagine not worth the hassle, there are plenty of open places where a bit of searching will get people what they want. Not worth risking the community getting taken down for it as if it became a hot bed for complaints from big companies, I doubt lemmy.world is in a position to fight them. I think we should push for legal streams of all fights to be advertised where they a free to watch.
The biggest engagement is generally driven from live fight threads, I don't know how technical you are but a bot that sets them up and pins them would ensure we don't miss any events whilst you are the only moderator. If we could get that for weigh-ins and press conferences as well we could push further engagement, especially if we could pin them early so people will come here to see what's on.
Another risk is people just posting a shit load of Eddie Hearn interviews lol.
I think having set pinned discussions threads on each week day could be fun once we get a few more users. Meme Mondays (shit banter encouraged, Wilder/AJ/Fury/Canello/Tank fan boys can thrash it out in a safe space) , Training Tuesdays (Amateurs and Boxing Fitness Enthusiasts training plans, meal prep, etc), When Wednesdays (Quiz day), Thriller Thursdays (GOATs, historic fights, etc), Pre-Fight Night Fridays.

Joshua vs Whyte 2
Reply in thread
It should be a good scrap regardless of whether it's the fight we wanted, hopefully sets AJ up to be ready for the fight with Wilder, and hopefully they both go for the knockout, Whyte will definitely be looking for the knockout as he has no chance of out pointing AJ.

Both could go either way quite easily to be fair, I'm gonna go with the 2 Brits so we can sort up the superfight in Wembley, but that's probably wishful thinking.
This is heavyweight boxing though, so the chances both these fights actually happen are slim to none.
