Linux changing sudo/admin status requires restart?

Distribution: Fedora Linux 44 (Workstation Edition)

I created a new Linux user and gave it admin with the gui interface, I then switched to it, but could not run sudo commands.

So I entered sudo usermod -a -G wheel [USER] to grant sudo rights through the cli, but still, the new user could not use sudo.

I logged in and out multiple times, but it did not help.

Then I restarted Linux and suddenly the new user could use sudo.

To test if it was now working, I striped sudo rights from the new user. But then I realized that the new user could still use sudo.

So it seems that sudo privileges only update on operating system restart? Is this correct, or is something wrong with my system?

Sorry if this is a stupid post

Time Enforcement Software for Linux?

Hello,

I am looking for a program that can force me to stop using Linux when I need to do something else, like eating dinner or going to bed.

This time enforcement could be as simple as changing the user password and then logging me out at a certain time (of course it should also change the password back later)

It should also require a password (different from the user password) to change its settings or uninstall it, so that I can't tamper with it in a weak moment.

Is there such a program for Linux?

Is Online Therapy ok?

I really think that I need therapy and my family also think so and tells me this in regular intervals.

But there are two main blockers with getting therapy:

  • Extreme long waiting list's, estimated waiting times of 1-3 years
  • I am so bad at doing stuff on time / arriving at appointment's, that this will fail any therapy where I have to arrive physically

I am thinking about getting online therapy, on a platform like for example BetterHelp, but I always hear bad things about these platforms.

Do anyone here as experience with such platforms? Do they keep the conversations private or sell them?

I can't stop when its time to stop

Hello, I have a big problem that interferes with every aspect of my life. And I want to ask you all if you experience this too and/or you have any ideas on how to improve this behavior?

The Problem

When I do anything interesting, or anything that just isn't completely boring, I can't stop when it's time to stop and start the doing the next thing. I always think, something like "Just five minutes more" and then I sometimes finish hours later than I had planned. This breaks all time-sensitive plans and also causes me to go to sleep far too late.

I don't think that its simple procrastination, because what I feel when I do it, is not about not wanting to start the next thing, but about not wanting to stop the current thing.

List of things I already do / have already tried

  • Setting up alarms that remind me that I need to stop doing the current thing and start doing the next thing
  • Creating schedules
  • Configuring the Wifi Router to turn of at certain times: This is very effective (when I have taken out my SIM card before), but its only helping with cutting the wifi at the end of the day for bedtime, not other time sensitive tasks that are necessary to even enable me to sleep on time (like eating dinner early enough)
  • Buffer time: Most of the time I can't get my self to view the buffer deadline as the actual deadline
  • Reading books about habits: I read some books about habits, but these books are mostly about starting an activity, or don't starting an activity at all, but I need to do certain things, and stop doing them on time.
  • This list is probably incomplete
