Graphic designer Constantine Konovalov calculated the number of characters changed between Wikipedia RU and Ruviki articles on the same topics, and found that there were 205,000 changes in articles about freedom of speech; 158,000 changes in articles about human rights; 96,000 changes in articles about political prisoners; and 71,000 changes in articles about censorship in Russia. He wrote in a post on X that the censorship was “straight out of a 1984 novel.”

Interestingly, the Ruviki article about George Orwell’s 1984 entirely omits the Ministry of Truth, which is the novel’s main propaganda outlet concerned with governing “truth” in the country.

That last detail...wow. They really don't want to leave any doubt about what they're doing, do they?

ICE agents try to detain US citizen in St Peter, Minnesota. Her 'crime' was filming them.

The woman’s husband eventually arrives and tries to intervene, and he made a separate recording of the interaction on his phone. He tells the agents not to search her car because they don't have a warrant and it would be an illegal search. The agents appear dismissive of his constitutional concerns.

"I'm not getting into the legality of everything," one agent responds tersely.

MPR News interviewed the woman and her husband, who also doesn't want to be identified, fearing retaliation.

The woman said the agents put her into one of their vehicles and started driving toward the Twin Cities, presumably to the Whipple Federal Building near MSP Airport, where ICE has an immigration detention facility. About 20 minutes into the drive, when they were near Le Sueur, she says one of the agents got a call, apparently from an ICE supervisor. They turned off Highway 169 at the next exit and drove back toward St. Peter.

The husband told MPR News that after his wife was taken into custody, he called his attorney, and soon after, he got a call from St. Peter Chief of Police Matt Grochow, whom he said he has known for years.

Bolded above.

Observations:

  1. They execute a high-speed box stop which is dangerous to not just the innocent observer, but bystanders, all while there is zero evidence of any illegal conduct happening.

  2. From the recording they all had guns drawn and pointed from the moment they stepped out of the car, meaning there was no escalation - they emerged ready to use deadly force without any grounds or justification. The only explanation is intent to kill or unlawfully intimidate.

  3. Those thugs were potentially driving her to be flown out of Minnesota. After that, who knows. They were informed of the unconstitutionality of an illegal search and demonstrated they didn't care.

  4. The only reason she was saved was that the husband knew the local chief of police, which - while great and especially nice for local communities where this is more common - is certainly not going to apply to everyone.

In any normal timeline they would all be fired and potentially be the basis for a constitutional rights violation suit for multiple reasons above.

The Elon / Trump interview on X started with an immediate tech disaster

Musk repeated the DDOS claim when the Space finally began around 8:40PM ET. “As this massive attack illustrates, there’s a lot of opposition to people just hearing what President Trump has to say,” he said.

So not only is he fabricating the DDOS out of thin air, but he just assumes out of nowhere that it's politically motivated by the "opposition" to silence Trump - when Trump is vomiting nonsense that blankets the media 24/7 and this would do absolutely nothing to prevent Trump from exposing himself to the unwilling public. Galaxy brain genius logic right there.

President Joe Biden says he will request more funding for a new coronavirus vaccine

So, just a general message to all the commenters who are eye-rolling this:

Viruses mutate, and COVID has mutated continuously since it has been in the wild. All those shots did serve a purpose to continue to provide protection, and that this one will too.

You're tired? Viruses don't get tired. It's not only a good thing, it's a miracle that we even are able to keep up with these mutations and almost completely mitigate the risk of, oh, just death and life-long debilitating symptoms with a 15 minute visit to the doctor to get a shot every so often.

ICE Attacks Car Full of Kids, Leaving 6-Month-Old Baby Unconscious

Even though I'm a cynic about the reality we're in, I still believe stories like this would slowly wear down the right wing propaganda effect, if MAGA actually saw them.

I mean, a flashbang thrown under a family car that stopped a 6-month old from breathing and traumatized an autistic child, none of whom were even part of the protests, for no reason. The narrative MAGA is fed is that these are left-initiated violent riots, but all of the actual data is ICE terrorizing and lawlessly assaulting peaceful people. Cognitive dissonance can grow to be enough to break a person's delusional reality, but the biggest problem is just putting actual information in front of these people's eyes. Because they're never going to seek it out, or get it from a sycophantic algorithm.

It just feels insurmountable sometimes to connect with the human part of MAGA people.

'Trump 2028' apparel on sale at the Trump Organization's online store

There are shirts that say "Rewrite the rules," so it's pretty clear that they know this isn't allowed and are trying to start early and normalize tearing up the Constitution.

Also:

Republican senators on Capitol Hill later downplayed Trump's comments, with Senate Majority Leader John Thune, of South Dakota, telling reporters that Trump couldn't seek a third term "without a change in the Constitution."

Thune also said Trump is "probably messing" with reporters who ask about the possibility of a Trump 2028 campaign.

So they're going with the tried-and-true "it's just a joke, bro" defense, until of course it isn't.

Asked to comment, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt referred NBC News to the Trump Organization “since it’s their website,” adding, “but it’s a cool hat and I suspect it will be highly popular!”

New tagline just dropped! "Dictatorship: It's A Cool Hat and I Suspect It Will Be Highly Popular"

A Trump-Putin pact is emerging – and Europe is its target | Rafael Behr

Living through it day to day, I assume most people are just confused and unbalanced, but looking back at this historically, it's going to be so goddamn obvious.

Trump is systematically destroying ties with all of US's allies going back 70-80 years. There is no justification, not even "fentanyl" and "immigration" apply to most of the allies we're picking fights with. The only country safe from criticism is Russia.

To me there is no doubt what's happening, but it's incredibly discouraging that there doesn't seem to be a thing we can effectively do about it. American voters were offered a cyanide pill, told it was candy by a known conman and liar, and ate it despite us all shouting, "It's cyanide, don't be an idiot!"

RTX 4070 Super launch day sales are rumored to be a ‘disaster’ – what’s going on with Nvidia’s new GPU?

Yep, it's the RAM, but also just a mismatched value proposition.

I think it's clear at this point Nvidia is trying to have it both ways and gamers are sick of it. They used pandemic shortage prices as an excuse to inflate their entire line's prices, thinking they could just milk the "new normal" without having to change their plans.

But when you move the x070 series out of the mid-tier price bracket ($250-450, let's say), you better meet a more premium standard. Instead, they're throwing mid-tier RAM into a premium-priced project that most customers still feel should be mid-tier priced. It also doesn't help that it's at a time where people generally just have less disposable income.
