I had some time this morning, so I took my Parker to a Shapton 12k and refreshed the edge. I'm not sure if I did things right, but I got a nice smooth shave out of it. We'll see how well this edge holds up.
I'm less satisfied with my choice of lather; this was far less refreshing than my previous shaves with Marduk or Le Grand Chypre.

It's Labor Day here in Europe, so of course it's a day where we don't labor. And it's very warm and sunny – for the last time before next week. A very nice shave with Absinthe, which is really an all around great soap, and suitable for all seasons.

This is my 3rd or 4th shave with this brush, and they all have been rather rough. I guess I'm getting brushburn, and since it is a sythetic, this is probably not getting any better over time. Anyone of you knowing a way to soften up a synth?

I tried again Tabac, this time with a boar – which worked well enough. I went in rather dry, maybe that helped. In any case, I don't have any talk based Tabac around, and I believe what I'm using is the OG vegan base (though I through away the packaging, so I cannot be sure).

This was my first try of Urash by AYLM. Normally, this 200ml soap costs 55€, but I bought it for half price at https://www.artdubarbier.com/, just as I did with the aftershave. You can do so too – if you live in the right country.

So, how was the shaving revolution doing on my face? The soap is a classic Italian croap, less liquid than Marduk, and about the same as Ishtar (if I remember correctly). I loaded heavily, and it was approximately the right quantity (which is 2-3 times what you would need from, e.g., a Saponificio Varesino soap). The scent is particular, not as earthy as I would have guessed, but I also didn't clearly get the ginger and bergamot aromas. In any case, it isn't as polarizing as Koké, but it was not love at first smell. It's ok I guess, but nothing to write home for – though I tend to like AYLM scents much more after a few shaves, and this may happen here as well. Performance was ok, but I might have to test a bit how much water the soap can take.
Is it worth it for the money? If you pay 50%, obviously. But what would 55€ for full price buy you (plus 38€ for the aftershave)? This is approximately the same price as a Martin de Candre 200g soap. With Urash, you get much more container at the same price point, and a more luxurious presentation. I happen to very much like their tubs. Shavingwise, I guess that the soap will last you much less long than a MdC soap, and it is also not obviously better. And I'm not exactly a fan of their woo claims.
Other than that, I very much like the Babylon theme (though not enough to get Hadad). I had no thoughts about the name, referring to the Babylonian goddess of the Earth, before I heard myself pronouncing it in English. I guess that that is where Sean Connery would have grabbed Mrs Moneypenny.
