Ward isn't necessarily worse; just different. I personally like Ward more, but understand why people wouldn't. I highly recommend giving it a try if you liked Worm, you'll still enjoy it.

Worm is a lot more regularly intense than Ward is; Taylor is the queen of escalation and the narrative reflects that, never really giving her (or the reader) time to breathe. Meanwhile Ward's protagonist actively tries to take time off, de-escalate, be mindful, and it does affect the pacing. There's slightly fewer action scenes, but they're just as good, if not better in some cases.

As far as I remember, Dragon shows up a few times but isn't as important as in Worm. Panacea does appear, with a pretty important, controversial, and spoileriffic role in the story.

The Endbringers don't come back in for a while, but they do show up and they do end up being pretty important. If you enjoyed Leviathan's and Behemoth's fights, you will absolutely adore pretty much the entire back half of Ward's action.

Ward's side characters also shine a lot more than Worm's, in my opinion, and I think it's because the author just had more experience writing by the time he did Ward. Rain is probably my favorite protagonist cape in the series, for example.

I've amassed a decent collection over the last few years, anything I think'll make my friends laugh in the groupchat. Don't have music or apps on my phone so it's as good a place as any to store em too

[QUESTION] What is your go-to bolognese recipe?

I sear my ground beef/pork mix on medium-hihh, then remove it from the pot. I cook diced onion in the grease, then add diced carrot and celery. After they all soften, I mix in tomato paste and let it sear too, but not super long, like 3 minutes max. I deglaze with a cup of white wine (I like using Riesling, but it works with dry wines too), and let the alcohol cook out a little bit, 5 minutes or so. Then I remove from heat, re-introduce the meat and stir, then cover with beef broth, give it another good stir, and add a cup of milk and some shakes of nutmeg. Bake for 3 hours at 375-390 (depends on how much liquid vs char you like), then add pasta, a cup of heavy cream, a hefty scrape'n'stir, and parmesan flakes on top.

Use an oven-safe pot! Also, spice your meat as preferred, I have my own ratio of garlic powder, onion powder, and S&P that I like for ground meats. I find that adding things like oregano, basil, etc take away from the taste of this sauce, but they're not bad by any means.

What's a song you could never stand hearing?

You're so Vain by Carly Simon - it played two or three times a shift when I worked for a thrift store in high school...for some reason, it's really the only song from those repetitive years I can't stand, as that job helped me discover works by the Carpenters and I always generally liked "Oldies" anyway, but....goddamn, that song just grates my gears
