Bedtime

My cat also has a very healthy bedtime, but I'm a night owl. So I'll turn the lights off after 10pm, light up small LED candles, let my cat sleep on my lap, and try not moving too much. After sometime I'll have to wake her up, then we go cuddling together under the duvet. She'll get up early without waking me up. The best friend I ever have.

What are your favorite games from a worldbuilding standpoint?

Apart from Mass Effect, Pillars of Eternity, and Deus Ex as others have already mentioned, I'd like to also add:

Grim Dawn.

The conflicts in its Universe feels reasonable, all the factions have their history and reasons of existence, there are beneficial and selfish, but no clear black and white, and everything interacts. The Lore is very good for an ARPG that focuses on combat, loots and built.

I gave up on GIMP because of this too. I tried to learn, but learning another completely new software is still better than learning GIMP. For both painting and photo manipulation, Krita feels smoother.

I still like Skallagrim. He still gave helpful reviews about blacksmiths and historical weapons that I'm interested in. And IMO, his channel was always more entertainment than scholarship. But HEMA is a martial art that develops slowly, way slower than YouTube algorithm's demand. There are not many new stuffs to talk about. If there has to be fillers to get his channel going, I'm okay with that.

Edit: Back to the topic. There are not many channels that I care about degraded to the point that I can't bare. What makes me a little sad is that from time to time, channels stop publishing videos. Especially after Covid, people found better things to do, so they hibernated their YouTube channels.

Carl Sagan's 9 timeless lessons for detecting baloney

Reply in thread

I read it when at school. At the time I thought it was obvious, of course we should have a scientific mindset. Modern societies are built on that, schools are teaching that, also lots of books and abundant educational TV shows that you can watch after school. So I gave the book away. I didn't know society can regress.

What were the "rules" for your last playthrough?

My current character was from three years ago, I usually play one character for several years on and off, but they do have sort of different rules and styles.

The current playthrough:

  • Don't be a stealth archer. Only use bows when necessary.

  • Avoid enchanted equipments. The only enchanted items I'm allowing myself to use are occasional one amulet and one ring.

  • Treat my horse as my friend, bring her always. Sadly two of them died in accidents...

  • Tender my garden more. I pretend I have a garden back at home.

And the usual personal rules as every other Bethesda games: Play as survival as possible, eat, drink, sleep, no fast travel, but don't turn on Survival Mode.
