I don't think they understand. We're interviewing them too.

eh, I'm hiring for my team right now and I have zero problem with these questions.

I tend to bring similar things up myself at the end of the interview if the candidate doesn't ask just because I don't like wasting time down the line.

we shouldn't make people jump through a bunch of hoops to see if they fit the job itself without being willing to consider that they might not want to waste time on a work environment that won't fit for them even if they could do the job.

Exemployees of a company, what was your "fuck this shit I'm out moment"?

at my old company I had a co-worker who was moderately competent if he tried but didn't seem to do so all that often.

My boss had been dangling a promotion for me for a few months, and I'd put in some extra work during that time related to my co-worker who seemed to be unable to manage a development team for one of his projects.

promotion time came and even though my manager was very aware that I was doing a significant portion of a co-worker's job, they offered the co-worker the promotion in order to keep them around since they had another job offer.

I think I was gone in about 2 months? didn't take too long to line something better up.

I definitely spent a frustrated 45 minutes trying to figure out why curl wasn't working when it was supposed to be supported in PowerShell.

then I hit tab a couple of times and noticed curl.exe was an option, that works exactly the same as I had expected with original syntax.

they do this to a lot of things though a lot of common commands end up being an alias to a powershell command with a specific option set that doesn't always line up

This is ground control to Major Dumb...

so I actually had a friend years back who worked at a junkyard.

I was hanging out there with him one time (definitely probably not smoking anything...) and he was still clearing things out.

so he grabs a propane tank and brings it up to where he has an oxyacetylin torch, lights the torch and starts cutting into the tank.

I about shit my pants and took off at least 50 ft back behind a car asking if he was trying to die today.

apparently I was the one that didn't know what I was talking about though because of a second later he cut through and it just popped a little flame.

he just let that flame burn until it was out and that's how he knew the tank was empty.

apparently these things are very hard to blow up.
