When you delete a block of code that you thought was useless
That's why we comment first, then use version controls. Also we never test in prod.
ROFL yeah right!

No way! 68% of 120 is 120% of 68, so drop the 100% now i just need to figure out 20% of 68 or do i need 68% of 20 which is really just 6 tens plus 8% so divide 20 by 10, then times 6 which is 12, now we need 8% of 20 which is just 20% of 8 or whichdies

Gabe Newell, founder of Bellevue’s Valve, buys $70.8M Florida mansion
Have did that because he built several industry leading video games, then built the largest online video game store front, and a hardware company the size most companies have for web dev.
The video game industry is larger than Hollywood and the music industry combined. Steam generated over 17 billion USD in revenue over 2025, with a team of around 350 full time employees.

I tried out the whole traditional adult thing, and honestly, I'm a lot happier watching cartoons and playing video games.

What made you join Lemmy?
One of the biggest reasons i stick around, is just the slower pace and lack of algorithms. If i check in the morning, there's a good chance that the same content will be trending in the afternoon or evening so I'm less inclined to scroll.

Gen Z is actually taking sick days, unlike their older coworkers. It’s redefining the workplace
I worked really hard at my first year at a big company and didn't take any sick days. During my performance review, I scored 4/5 for attendance, even though I arrived early for every shift and did every overtime opportunity. When I asked my manager, she said it's policy not to hand out 5's because it sends the message that there's no room for improvement.
No one could tell me how I could improve my attendance.

Growing Number Of Anti-Jim Jordan Republicans Are Reporting 'Credible Death Threats’
I mean, maybe you shouldn't have let the rhetoric of your party devolve to this point? Maybe you all shouldn't have normalized abuse and violence against elected officials?
Republicans really have no one to blame for this than themselves.

What is the result of a programmer's work?
I'm not going to lie, that last one is the hardest thing for me.
After years of trades i always loved having a physical thing you can touch and feel at the end of the day. I'm in university for tech, and i'm still struggling with the lack of achievement. I don't often get to see someone use a thing I worked on, so it kinda feels like I spent a lot of time doing nothing.

Microsoft donates the Mono Project to the Wine team
I can't help but think that Microsoft has decided to proceed in some way that will break compatibility, so they're done with Mono now.
I know it's skeptical, but I just have no faith in that company to act in good faith with anything.

Alberta woman dies after being denied transplant for refusing to get COVID vaccine
They don't give organs to alcoholics who don't stop drinking either.
Good luck getting a heart of you refuse to quit eating a hamburger an hour.
Look, you have to pass a baseline level of taking care of yourself to qualify for an organ, and vaccinations are the bottom, base level first line of defense.
