AI Hyperscalers have pre-ordered almost all of 2027's global RAM supply, increasing prices by 500%, and leaving almost none for smartphone & PC manufacturers.

I'm not guaranteeing 2027 but increases in demand like this usually lead to increasing production as well (and I've seen a couple posts about new players entering the market) so prices should at least stabilize over the next couple years at most, and if that's coupled with a bubble bursting then it will be cheaper than before (as in, in 5-10 years as backed up consumer demand gets satisfied)

Take a number

Have you ever waited in line for an order, with a ticket, and it seemed like you got skipped? I assume that was a coincidence, and probably your order just took a little longer, or the ticket numbers aren't in order anyway. This comic jokes that it's intentional to spite you.

Crit Success

Hmm I'm mixed on this, you could see it as homophobia, but just the hero falling in love with the BBEG in itself could cause the exact same comic, no? In which case making either a woman could have misogynistic implications instead.

Without knowing the author I like to think they're making the "hero seduces BBEG" joke, just more inclusive because it's gay now.

Petition to formally recognize open source work as civic service in Germany

I assume only German citizens can sign this? I upvoted here if that helps, because it sounds like a great initiative, maybe if this gains traction this can go europe wide?

The difficult part is measuring work done I'm afraid though. For volunteer work as e.g. reading books to kids or cleaning streets it's relatively easy to see that things are happening, even if some are better/faster than others. Unless you're going to force people to work in live calls or whatever, or just trust self-reporting, that's going to be hard, no?

Or do you mean more like subsidies for nonprofits working in open source?

Either way, good initiative, I hope for its success!

My therapist hit me with this banger regarding my attraction to men

Transitioning obviously being the easier option since us trans girls are so universally loved and respected.

I can get it on some level, growing up surrounded by homophobia (but not transphobia as your parents never even heard of the concept), so being gay is bad and I'm not bad so I can't be gay. Then discovering the concept of transness, seeing it as an "out", proving that you weren't bad, there was a third option, so this must be real.

Psychologically this is valid, and I can imagine a psychologist coming from a good place trying to figure you out entirely before assigning a label that could result in more issues (like you said, it ain't easy being trans).

Of course he could be a trans denying asshole too, that's hard to tell from text.

And there's obviously better phrasing to explore the possibility of you being gay instead of trans

In the second meeting we had I pointed to my genitals and said that these have to go. Dude looked super annoyed but that was it, the meeting was over and I got my referral.

That sounds like the exact thing you should do, that's not something that can be denied (maliciously or otherwise) through internalized homophobia.
