Daylight savings

My dad did that one year lol. Refused to change his clocks or personal routine. Dunno if he was able to stick with it or not — but it was funny to hear him talk so seriously about why he "refuses to abide by such an arbitrary concept that makes his life harder, by having to adjust his body's schedule"

His face had such a straight up "nope, fuck all that" look about it, it cracked me up lmao

Ehh, I'd prefer they bag it and put it in my trash bin, rather than just leaving a pile of shit in my yard. I'd honestly prefer neither, but using my bin to throw poop bags or even loose trash doesn't bother me too much

But my bin is also only on the curb when it's trash day. And they pick them up twice a week here, so a poop bag won't necessarily "marinate" in there for long. And I rinse the bin with a hose if it becomes gross, but that's rare because usually the rain will handle most of it

But that's just my particular situation, so it doesn't bother me as much. I could easily see how a multitude of different factors, might make the situation aggravating/infuriating

Never thought I'd feel lucky about my trash bin situation though. Sometimes it really is the little things I guess

My wife and I both use the "thumbs down" method. It's funniest when we're both doing it to some ass-hat, while riding together.

It often de-escalates the person though, as if they don't know how to respond. They usually just make angry gestures and mutter (probably obscenities) to themselves, but their rage usually chills out a bit. It's almost like you make them aware of how childish they're acting

The Middle-Class Women Who Are Tripping Balls

Reply in thread

How many people who drink alcohol can say that?

Thank you. When I was in my college days, I used to get bursts of horrible anxiety while tripping — wondering what the hell I would do if someone called me with an emergency. I got over that by realizing how many times I had been way too drunk, and would have been in the exact same predicament if someone called me with an emergency.

It helped me put a lot of perspective into it and not only stopped that anxious thought while tripping, but also created an awareness that helped me to enjoy (conscious-altering) recreations more safely

Does it feel like the fediverse is exclusively used by older tech nerds?

Well... damn. I'm mid-30's; Tech is (definitely) kind of a hobby of mine; and I use Linux for learning, experimenting, and... uhh, tech hobby stuff lol. I can solder a little, and sometimes it actually works!

Maybe it's because that cohort is the fastest to adopt. We grew up with a rapidly changing internet, we're kinda used to navigating the glitches/unfamiliarity, and it's just more familiar (to us) in a "back-to-basics" way. I feel like I've entered a nostalgic "place" that has become better since I last visited.

With Memmy for ios going full-live, the multitude of 3rd party apps at full throttle, and Facebook ready with "Threads" - this just seems like the first wave of what could be a hell of a storm. The content will increase and diversify, that's inevitable now.

The question is: do people want to be responsible for maintaining a user-controlled platform? Or would they prefer an operator help to connect us? We'll see, but I guarantee there will be some fresh af memes coming through here in the mean time, so no worries

Hell, while you're here... throw some of those old ass memes (or almost any pic you've got saved on your phone) onto ![email protected]

Be the change you want to see and shit

Or don't, it's not like anyone can really judge you when you're anonymous... but you'll know. Months from now, when you're lying in bed, unable to sleep because you were complicit in the apathy; you'll wonder if it could have been different. You'll try to bury the intrusive thoughts and "what ifs", but you'll always wonder...

"Could it have actually worked? Might we have taken claim to a piece of independence in the future of world communications?!"

... and the thought slips away, as you mainline another 40 min of memes directly into you're neurotransmitter reservoir, for sustenance and maintenence

MAGA Women Shoot Themselves in the Uh, Foot. Again.

Or it will disqualify a lot of married women who took their partner's name

Unmarried women and women who keep their last name will have less trouble voting... and people whose names differ and are aware of the change, are more likely to go through the bullshit to make sure they're registered. Maybe it'll prevent a bunch of Magats from being able to vote

It's utterly disgusting either way. Hope it backfires, they lose, and they're persecuted. A kid can dream
