3rd party app for Reddit, Boost, is still functioning well after July 1st

Reply in thread

Reddit will be fine in the short term sure, but anyone who actually gave enough of a shit to put in the effort needed for it to work well have left or stated that they will no longer do anything more than the bare minimum. Reddit will still be around for a while, but it will never be the same place it was, and eventually will just become irrelevant as it's overrun with trolls and scammers. I give it 3 - 5 more years before it disappears without fanfare and no one will care.

bad habbit

It took a little while, but they eventually learned not to knock on my door anymore lol After several tense encounters where I brought up the more unsavory parts of the Bible I finally got a doormat that just said "go away" on it. I think I was put on a list after that because that doormat wore out almost 3 years ago and no one from the local churches have ever come back here since

Rule

I usually have to switch to a mindless game or else I will stay up all night. The downside is that I end up dozing off and dropping my phone lol

Are we gonna make a big difference after this migration?

A million or more people leaving will not have that big of an effect on its own, no. Since most of the people who left were the people who actually cared though will eventually make a difference. Everything that's wrong with Reddit now is going to get 10 times worse. Popular subs will be overrun with trolls and spam. Mods won't care anymore since no one apparently cared about the work they did. Eventually it will turn into a marketing tool for shitty bands to sell albums, and scammers to rip people off like Myspace did so long ago.

It might take a year or two or even 5 before it is unrecognizable, and that will be now Reddit ends. No one will care by then. It probably won't even make the news

IAmA mods no longer willing to work for reddit for free

Reddit isn't ever going to pay anyone to mod a sub. They'll drag all of this out until the IPO and then sell off the whole site to the highest bidders who will probably scrap it all and turn it into a new TikTok app or something.

By that time Steve Huffman will be on a private beach somewhere not giving a single fuck about what happens to all the redditors who made him rich
