China is attempting to mirror the entire GitHub over to their own servers, users report
Reply in thread
How will they filter it out? If they just don't mirror anything with 'forbidden' terms, we can poison repos to prevent them being mirrored. If they try to tamper with the repo histories then they'll end up breaking a load of stuff that relies on consistent git hashes.

Solar photovoltaic doesn't involve steam. We can be solarpunk as well!
I guess hydro-power uses steam in the global water cycle so I'll give you that. Radio-Thermal Generators are all solid state, but not much power on earth comes from them.

Assassination is a Leaky Abstraction
I didn't recognise the '10 seconds of human consideration' claim. I found this ProPublica report on it: How Cigna Saves Millions by Having Its Doctors Reject Claims Without Reading Them
There a former Cigna doctor says “It takes all of 10 seconds to do 50 at a time.” They claim to have seen documents for a two month period that put the average at 1.2 seconds per review. That's using a specific review system that processed 300,000 claims over that period.
They don't mention if there were other claims processed with different methods but still, the OP article seemed to be generous with that claim.
I don't know what the "90%-error-rate AI" claim is about though. It'd be nice if the sources were actually cited.

Didn't Microsoft insist on TPMs for Win11? Isn't the whole point of them to hold keys out of system memory?

What is this cylindrical metal thing found with machinist tools?
I think it's a cylindrical square. It can be set on one end on a surface plate to find 90°. Because it can be rotated, it can be checked for error. I think they're often made by apprentice machinists, hence the name and date stamped in it.

Example use of one with a surface gauge as a squareness comparator: https://youtu.be/53q6kVX9gjM?t=1244
