Yesterday I watched #TheTake , a documentary by #NaomiKlein and #AviLewis about the cooperative movement in Argentina, released in 2004.

In the beginning of the 21st century, workers across #Argentina took over control over factories, and began to run them by themselves.

Many of these cooperatives still exist.

This documentary can be a source of hope. We need it.

Today employees of the #UniversityofAmsterdam #UvA are on #strike to protest against the budget cuts for education that are pushed by our far right government.

Universities are a place of wonder, curiosity and resistance.

This world is in desperate need of all of these things.

The mass protest of 25000 people has failed to convince the cabinet to reverse the disastrous cuts to higher education in the #Netherlands.

The #FNV, together with all #unions, has therefore decided to go on #strike nationwide. These cuts must be completely off the table!

On Wed, Feb 11 at 5pm, employees of the University of #Amsterdam are organizing an action meeting to discuss how the #strike will take shape.

Although at this point, it might make strategic sense to use the language of neoclassical economists to push for (e.g.) a carbon tax, we should recognize the fundamental flaws in the underlying world view.

Last Friday, during a class about the short and long term organic #carbon cycle, a student raised his hand:

"So, 6 protons, 6 neutrons, and 6 electrons...", 666....carbon must be the work of the devil."

I think it should be the mascotte of all students at Science Park:
