3D printers leave hidden ‘fingerprints’ that reveal part origins
Reply in thread
I think that's the unspoken implication and I'm instantly suspicious of the entire premise. The entire field of forensic science is filled to the brim with things described as "fingerprints" that are not nearly as unique or consistent as the field would have us believe.

🤣 "Everyone uses this thing... it must be possible to monetize that somehow!"
I'd really like to hear their "underpants gnome" business plan for how that's going to work.

Any Thoughts, Ideas or Theories of the Bambu H2D that they have been teasing?
They have showed their hand. i would be VERY unlikely to extend my trust to Bambu again. To be clear, I don't necessarily regret my purchase of an X1C, but I'm now running in "local" mode with my machine blocked from WAN access and I don't intend to let Bambu back in.

So this isn't a tool to remind me when it's time to reorder my 55 gallon drum of personal lubricant?
(Apologies for linking to Amazon... it was them or Walmart and they're both terrible)

Gross. Seriously though, Graphene is really good. Don't hold this against them.

Before You Criticize People Who Bought Bambu
I'm unconcerned. I knew what I was getting into with a walled garden ecosystem, and though I didn't expect them to dive straight into the enshittification deep end, I figures they would eventually do something fairly shady. The real question is how long it will take to release the first X1C-Klipper refit.

brick layer printing strength analysis by my tech fun
Reply in thread
Not as drastic as I had hoped, but it looks like around 5% better layer adhesion provided you increase the flow rate slightly to fit in the gaps. It essentially makes a print that's more solid in the walls.
I saw elsewhere someone doing prints with transparent filament and they were also getting optically better prints with this.
Also, there's a pull request on Orca... Not sure when it'll come out, but they're working on building it into the slicer.

How Guitar Center plans to beat its online competitors and safeguard the future of its physical stores
Yeah, it's a real shame that Amazon is poisoning the section of the market that GC had already poisoned for the independent guitar shops. Best of luck finding a new section of the market to destroy though...

Updates and Third-Party Integration with Bambu Connect
Their big defense seems to be, "We haven't even done anything yet."
Sorry Bambu, but you're late to the enshittification game. Setting up a situation where you CAN do these things is a Chekhov gun: sooner or later, we know you'll put them to use.

I've pretty much been running on the binary theory with the AMS sensor: anything but a 1 is too high. I guess I'm glad I didn't waste any money on those digital jobbies. I wonder if the old school analog style are better?

They just announced it a week or two ago, but they're keeping the server up for "a reasonable period" to allow users to migrate. From my understanding, many of their tweaks have been integrated into 1.0 and the team all plans to continue working with FreeCAD and submitting improvements.

PSA: You can grow hot peppers as perennials
I grow mine in containers and have made it work not even bothering with new soil until spring. Unfortunately, this year I had an early freeze sneak up on me and I'm not sure if any of them are going to make it, but we'll see shortly.

Unfortunately, yes, just like any other niche. I have distanced myself from a few musician friends because they absolutely cannot resist injecting incredibly toxic politics into every aspect of their lives. Vote for whoever you want, but every conversation is not an invitation to blather on about the talking points of the week.
