Does one have to be an iconoclast or revolutionary these days to be validly left? I consider myself to be left of center, and very much in favor of progressive policies.

how about you don't engage in bad faith red herrings? instead, you could address the points other people raise in their comments.
this is some smug, manipulative bullshit.

it is manipulative. it is designed to distract from the subject at hand and imply that the person being asked is acting in bad faith if they don't chase your red herring.

as the mod of two worldnews communities, can you try to squash the shill/bot accusations. it's dehumanizing, and it acts as a thought terminating cliche, stopping discussion of the topic. it's toxic af and it should be grounds for immediate short bans, and long bans with repeated use.

how about unilaterally infringing on my right to keep and bear arms? or tightening border controls? those two came to me instantly, but i bet a careful review of his presidency would be pretty enlighteting.

fascism is a stratified society in which all institutions interests are brought into line with the interest of the state. state methods of control like passports and borders are one expression of the primacy of the state in society. infringement on personal liberty is another common facet.

mussolini defined fascism in his 1932 essay, "the doctrine of fascism," co-written with giovanni gentile. in this work, he emphasized the rejection of democracy and socialism, advocating for a strong, centralized state and the importance of nationalism and militarism.
