Why is porn not allowed on this site
I'm fine with no porn. It gets so tiring seeing porn and pseudo-porn everywhere.
Porn should stay in dedicated instances so it can be blocked. NSFW tagging is unreliable at best.

Except that you can: you hire intelligence. He paid people to build it and fired them when they weren't comfortable with the design and had safety concerns. Lol

Why is /r/Videos shutting down on June 12th? How will this change affect regular users? More info here.
I don't intend on going back to Reddit. I'm tired of mega corporations thinking that they own my data.

Reddit CEO Steve Huffman: 'It's time we grow up and behave like an adult company'
But with artificial intelligence-powered large language models like Microsoft-backed ChatGPT and Google's Bard, a massive corpus of conversations is being hoovered up. And in return, Reddit receives very little, he said.
If they take our content and build businesses on it, that's an issue," Huffman said. "If they build businesses such that people come to Reddit less, that's an issue."
"Our content" my ass. This is the same as the CEO thinking they're entitled to the fruits of your labor.

Is anyone else beginning to mourn reddit?
No, Reddit is trash. What you're missing is the small communities that made it worth enduring. Those communities are created and inhabited by people like us. They will live on somewhere else—maybe even here.

Snapchat adds a dark mode on Android. Catch is, you have to pay for Snapchat+ to enable it.
Snapchat is one of the most ass apps there ever was. Blows my mind people still use it.

I have always hated "NFSW" being such a large blanket. NFSW does not exclusively mean "porn".

The pcgaming subreddit has been forced back open.
Why would Reddit negotiate when subs are just going to reopen anyway?

Totally understand. But the only solution for a lack of content is creating some ourselves. A community of lurkers will have no content to lurk on.

How much money does Lemmy.ml need to temporarily boost their servers?

What if a bunch of groups from the Fediverse hosted a huge fundraiser and distributed the funds to where they were needed? Maybe even kept a bank of funds for when large, temporary influxes of funding are needed.
Also, hi! Thanks for hosting!

"Workers are hiding their AI productivity hacks from bosses"
Efficiency benefits never get passed to the worker. When effeciency improves the worker is eliminated to keep workload "optimum" (from the company's perspective) and reduce costs.
Automate what you can of your job and never, ever share those productivity hacks with your boss.

Regular users can block communities and instances both.
