Venue cancels anti-LGBTQ+ antisemitic conference at last minute, upsetting bigots
The white nationalists have been turning on the guy in the right in that photo, Jake Shields, because they found out he has mixed ethnicity and decided he isn’t white enough for them. Their movement is such a mess.

The word you are looking for here is impulsively, not accidentally. He purposefully went through the whole process of selling the house and experienced immediate remorse, but there was no accident involved.

The ones who are in congress are the ones who are good at successfully navigating this system of campaigning. They don’t want to level the playing field for opponents who don’t have a strong network of rich donors ready to boost them.

Embarrassed Teslas Drivers Buying Huge Numbers of Anti-Elon Bumper Stickers
Reply in thread
The stickers do help, I have seen one before and then I remember how it was exciting in the early days that someone was very publicly making a big push to introduce a viable alternative to internal combustion engines. We know a lot more now about Musk and Tesla than we did back when the first cars rolled out. A lot of the early Tesla owners probably meant well and it doesn’t help that nearly all the infrastructure (at least in my area) is car-only and hostile towards other forms of transit.

State GOP tells people to "burn all Pride flags" during June

Paired with the accompanying text, the commenter implies that the people calling for the burning of Pride flags should burn their racist confederate pride flags.

Pregnant women in Missouri can't get divorced. Critics say it fuels domestic violence

This law came around before DNA sequencing was common, they probably had some kind of archaic law making it hard to pin paternity on an unmarried father since you couldn’t just order a DNA test to show who created the baby.

Americans under 30 are so miserable that the U.S. just fell to a historically low ranking in the world happiness report

It is normal for older people to be jaded. Having the young, idealistic age start out life jaded and miserable really drags the average down.

Louisiana set to become 1st state requiring 10 Commandments be posted in schools
Reply in thread
This Supreme Court might decide to play favorites, maybe the next precedent is “only religions existing during the founding of the US can display texts in schools.” Just because previous courts protected the separation of church and state doesn’t mean this court has to abide by that precedent.

This Is Exactly How an Elon Musk-Funded PAC Is Microtargeting Muslims and Jews With Opposing Messages
Reply in thread
His PAC is targeting multiple groups separately with conflicting messages instead of advertising to users across the platform broadly with messages that don’t contain contradictions. The PAC is trying to convince everyone that Harris supports whoever they assume to be each ad recipient’s big enemy.

Fox News accused of adding fake applause during Trump parade live stream: ‘They had to help him out’
This report is inaccurate and did not take the time to double check the official streams. It is actually the PBS stream that has extra cheering/applause and the Fox News version is without. I’m honestly surprised because Fox News is the one with a lengthy history of lying on air.

Texas megachurch pastor resigns after admitting to molestation claims in 1980s
Reply in thread
Well this is a whole community that messed up. His church knew his past and decided to still put him in positions of trust and authority. They could’ve had him do work as a church landscaper or some other non-leadership role if they wanted to still keep him gainfully employed while going through treatment for his issues. Nobody forced the rest of the church leadership to keep him as a minister and pastor when they knew he was capable of abusing a young child for years on end. It is also the responsibility of pedophiles to not put themselves in positions where they have access to children. They might not be able to help their urges, but they can choose not to work around children or share a home with children. There are lots of jobs where children aren’t involved.

It was in the midst of claiming Venezuela dumped all of its criminals in the US. In Trump’s view Venezuela is safer than the US since America let all the Venezuelan criminals in through that open border.

“I Don’t Want to Die”: Needing Mental Health Care, He Got Trapped in His Insurer’s Ghost Network
Reply in thread
The patient has insurance but once you have insurance you have to find healthcare professionals who accept your insurance, doctors don’t have to accept any insurance plan. The insurance company here has a list of health providers that accept their coverage (we call this in network) and you can go to them for care. The insurance company’s list is poorly maintained so many of the listed providers went out of business, stopped accepting the insurance plan, or stopped accepting new patients.
If you go to a doctor that is out of network, the insurance company charges you much much more for the visit if they cover it at all, or you may have to pay completely out of pocket.
