House Republicans are moving forward with a bill that would overhaul student-loan repayment and make it harder for Biden to get relief to borrowers

Reply in thread

I wish this was the case, but they'll just drum up another culture was issue. My dad is like this with our conservative party. He'll complain about parks being rezoned for clear cutting, about insurance rates being uncapped, about electricity prices going up, but when it comes time to vote he votes for the party responsible for all this because "Trudeau is a socialist".

Is anyone else beginning to mourn reddit?

I don't really miss it at all tbh. I wasn't an active poster, but I would lurk every day. At a certain point it got repetitive, where I could guess what the comments would be like on the next post. It got too big to support any meaningful discussion, and devlovled into stupid jokes and puns.

Hey, I'm new to GitHub!

As a CS student, yes absolutely. These people then complain about paper exams and when the code gets complex enough for the AI to make mistakes. I've seen a few people drop out in programming 2, and my web 1 class was decimated because we were doing more than leetcode exercises. It's a real problem that so many people are using it as a crutch.

DOT Announces Rule Requiring Automatic Refunds of Airline Tickets and Service Fees for flights that are canceled or delayed more than 3 hours domestically and 6 hours internationally

Reply in thread

So the flight was scheduled for 12:00. They kept announcing that it was delayed to 1:00, 2:00, and then at 2:55 they stopped announcing new delays. The flight ended up boarding at 3:30, but because they didn't announce the delay every customer service rep said that I wasn't entitled to compensation.

(CMV) Veganism

I'm not a vegan, and in fact I really enjoy eating meat, but Ill bite. I think that the stuff about plants and fungi suffering is nonsense. What you are describing is more akin to dominos falling over. It's a complex chain reaction that involves no thought at all. A plant doesn't have a central nervous system, and thus by definition cannot suffer.

Another issue with your argument is the last type of vegan, the one that wants to eliminate death. Every vegan that I know wants to eliminate sentient death, not just death overall. None of the vegans I personally know or have talked to want to just blindly eliminate death. Our argument as meat eaters is that most animals are low enough on the sentience totem pole that we can eat them without problems. A vegans argument is that no part of the sentience totem pole is low enough to eat. Your main premise comes from a mischaracterization of veganism.
